Please be honest
Pitt (14k/yr) Nova (not sure yet) PSU (10k/yr) Catholic (15k/yr)
Looking for biglaw or a job with decent pay and future prospects....
I am out of state. Would love to work in DC - but if the job is good other cities are ok.
Don't know if this would be relevant but I'm Asian.
Please be honest.
Thanks!

[strike]PA resident?[/strike]
Edit: nvm, just re-read your post. Pitt dominates the area, while the others are in very oversaturated markets (PSU doesn't really have a market). I'm not sure if it's tough to get residency in PA, but if possible, it would make Pitt much cheaper than either PSU or Nova, since PSU doesn't have in-state tuition. Of course, none of the degrees are super portable, so take geography into account as well.

I would tell the truth if this were in the proper forum.
Instead, I might be lying.
Or I might not be.

OP, i think you're making this more complicated than it is. The way i see it:
1. GW is probably your best option if u get off the waitlist--like u said, live at home and minimize debt the best u can.
2. If dinged at GW, you go to pitt because it is the cheapest of your remaining options--which are all peer schools in relatively the same region i.e. u could probably crack the philly and central pa market if u really wanted.
OR
3. u retake the lsat and apply next year. This is what u should do if u want big law.

I could be wrong, especially since I am not one of the people targeting the Philadelphia market, but I recall seeing a discussion of Villanova where people said its placement in Philly is great. Obviously Penn > Nova, but it seems like most Penn grads leave the city after graduation and that Nova and Temple grads stick around and do pretty well. If anyone can back me up on this, and (once they tell give you your aid package) it's not tens-of-thousands more expensive than Pitt, I'd probably lean toward Villanova.

yeah, i completely understand option 3. but i already took it 2 times. i just can't see myself taking it another time. plus the prep i did for the past two times was ridiculous. I've done all the PTs out there so no question is "new". I went down the 2nd time i took the damned test.jack duluoz wrote:OP, i think you're making this more complicated than it is. yeah that was my assumption too. i have yet to year from Nova about the scholly situation. hoping it is close to Pitt's offer.cubswin wrote:I could be wrong, especially since I am not one of the people targeting the Philadelphia market, but I recall seeing a discussion of Villanova where people said its placement in Philly is great. Given that I'm no expert on any of these schools, take my advice with a grain of salt, but to me the above is credited.jack duluoz wrote:OP, i think you're making this more complicated than it is. The way i see it:

I am an unabashed Pitt troll. Fantastic city, great school which completely owns a top-25 legal market. I think it's by far your best choice, particularly considering your scholarship.
Plus, spending weekends on the South Side and the fall watching Steelers games isn't too shabby.

I haven't missed a game in 7 years, and don't plan to while in Palo Alto next year either. Hell, I'm even a Pirates fan, and we haven't had a winning season since '91.DukeHopeful wrote:You couldn't pay me enough to watch the Steelers play. BlehKretzy wrote:I am an unabashed Pitt troll. Even if you aren't a Steelers fan, PGH is an awesome city.

Haha, I just had to get that in there since the OP asked for honesty and I'm too much of a Ravens fan. That said, Dan Marino was my childhood idol, and perhaps the greatest thing to ever come out of Pitt.

Born on the north side of Pittsburgh, moved out west as a teenager. HS and college in Colorado. My entire family is from Allegheny County, PA, though.CardinalRules wrote:Wait, you're from Pittsburgh? Die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan at heart. Steelers, Pens, Pirates, even Pitt football and basketball. PGH doesn't have a basketball team, so I root for the Nuggets.

Ugh, Hines Ward is such a tool. Anyone who has that shit-eating grin on their face all game and gets manicures before every game qualifies as a tool.nooyyllib wrote:I am a fan of Hines Ward though.....
