Weak Splitters 2010 (164-169 2.5-3.0)

Post by FUMAgrad05 » Sat Feb 06, 2010 7:56 pm

I saw this topic for last year but it appears no one has started one for this year... So i guess I'll start it off
I'm really nervous about where I'll get in. I'm a very low splitter, 166 and 2.51. I worked through college as and emergency veterinary technician and have good PS and great LORs. Upward grade trend, extremely low first few years and 3.82 for past 3 semesters. All my apps are complete as of the end of January and I'm under review at quite a few schools. So far all I've heard from is a rejection at American, but Ive applied to alot of other schools:

Indiana-bloomington
Illinois
Iowa
U of Washington
George Washington
W&L
W&M
Wisconsin
Alabama
Georgia
UC Davis
George Mason
Wake Forest
Arizona
Utah
SMU
Florida state
Arizona State
Kentucky
Lewis and Clark
Georgia State
Penn state
Richmond
Oregon
Denver

Any thoughts would be helpfull...

If we're going down to 162's, I'll check in here with a 162/2.8x (been out of school for a while). Was supposed to re-take my LSAT today but got "snowed out" so I'm waiting for a make up date. So far my cycle is going as the numbers predict: I'm IN and Rutgers-Newark and DePaul, WL at Cardozo (although looking at LSN it's really a soft reject) and have heard nothing at all at the rest of my schools (so for now I'm just assuming they want to see my new LSAT before they decide).

166/2.6, seem to be getting a lot of holds right now. One rejection is my only decision atm.

Glad there's a thread for people like us now! Clocking in here at 168/2.76 (plus Masters and WE).

Wake Forest: IN
UTK: IN + $7k
W&L: IN + $6k
UVA: REJECTED
UNC: Pending
W&M: Pending
Duke: Pending
Campbell: Pending

Hoping to hear from UNC soon, though a bit worried since they seem to be GPA lovers in Chapel Hill. :?

Good thread!

I am boasting an impressive 2.76, and thanking the stars for a 168. I also have a Master's and 10 years of work experience.

So far, I have heard nothing from nobody..

ASU (By far my top choice)
Lewis & Clark
DePaul
Chicago Kent
Phoenix College of Law
Arizona

Worked full-time through undergrad. First Generation college student.

SMU - In
St. Mary's - In
U of H - Pending
Baylor - Pending
LSU - Pending
Tulane - Pending
South Texas - Pending

SMU was my top choice. I'll be withdrawing my apps from the others upon receiving decisions barring any unforseen scholarships or circumstances.

2 for 2 so far (check profile).

165/2.78

Expecting 4 of 7. In at Kent and I suspect 1 of IU-B, Iowa, or WI will come through but probably with no $$$. Doesn't matter, I'm staying in Chicago to be with my SO. She's moving in, works full time and is helping me with CoL. :D

Also, I know the strong splitters are kicking themselves for screwing around in UG but I feel like the weak splitters have so much more to regret. If you get a 170, you're going to a good school, someone will take you. However, us weak splitters end up in t2's if we want scholarships. Kind of a bummer, but that's life.

I have very similar stats, and I got into George Mason already this cycle. I'm still waiting to hear back from the rest.

Can I join the club if my GPA is below 2.5  ? My LSAT is 169, and my only decision has been a ding at UGA. I retook the LSAT yesterday, so my apps are still pending at every other school. Hopefully, I'll have some good news to add to the thread in a few weeks.

That's why we retake and apply all over the place hoping T1's will eventually take us :). 165-166 are a little more "no man's land" than 167-169-ers who all have a good chance at WUSTL, UIUC and UMN.

~2.8/170 here. Figured I fit somewhat. upward trend, decent softs, a year and a half of legal work experience and plenty of volunteer/church stuff, 4 sterling letters of rec, and a decent PS if I do say so myself.

Dec LSAT, went complete mostly in Jan, applied to everywhere I got waivers and a few reaches:
GT(binding PT), BU, BC, Fordham, Northeastern, Northwestern, ND, UNC, Emory, GW, W&M, UGA, UC-Hastings.

anyone for predictions?

edit: recently been thinking of throwing a hail mary to vandy. always been a dream school but waaay out of my reach eh?

Nice to have a home. 169/2.8 checking in.

In: WUSTL, MN, Illinois, Georgia
WL: George Washington, Washington & Lee
Out: UCLA

Still waiting to hear back from 11 more schools.

I'm still considering every school that has accepted me, though I might rule WUSTL out at sticker.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
