I know how u feel, I've been waitlisted at schools ranked from 4-30. 5 waitlists, 0 acceptances. I want to know how I get waitlisted at 5 schools ranked 4-30. Getting waitlisted at a top 5 should equal acceptance at #14 or 30

17 applications. 1 ED-rejection. 7 acceptances. 9 pending (will be WLs if I'm lucky).

So here's a question that I would gladly accept opinions on.

I've been accepted at 1 school, waitlisted at 2. If I put down my deposit on my accepted school...but hold out hope to get off the waitlist at one of the other schools...how long do you think I have to withdraw from the accepted school without any repercussions besides losing my deposit? This of course is assuming that I'll hear back from the waitlists early on in the spring/summer.

My one accepted school said I have to put down a deposit by March 5th (WTF!) and that I can withdraw with no penalty until April 2nd (essentially it buys me time to get my other letters in).

I would ask your school about a similar cutoff.

So, what are we supposed to do when put on the waitlist? Obviously, you have to put a deposit down somewhere else....but my problem is that I have a sibling I want to live with at my first choice school, where I am currently HELD (I know that's not THE waitlist). If I put a deposit down at another school then she'll find another roommate. If later in the summer I get accepted to my first choice school then I'll have to live separately from my sister.

I guess my question is....how long is a reasonable period of time to wait to look for a place to live if you're holding off to see if a waitlist will turn into an accept?
