Does Ole Miss notify applicant of acceptances via the status checker, phone, email, or snail mail?

My status checker seems to never change

I think acceptances are mainly through a phone call, but I have also seen snail mail only.

The word is that the status checker is worthless.

I've been accepted since last month and my status checker still says "complete." I called the admissions office and asked them the status of my file and then they told me I was accepted, then later in the day I got called again and was told I got in....then got a pretty big folder full of admissions material and info on the town

I believe this week is spring break at the law school...a perfect time to send out rejection letters

I don't know if this has been asked or if it is even applicable yet but, has anyone been denied from Ole Miss and had their status checker change to something that indicates such (i.e. decision mailed)?

Has anyone been denied and their status checker still say, "File Complete"?

Checked this morning, status changed from complete on 2/3 to app complete again but on 3/17. Also the words, " we will make every effort to respond by april 1 deadline....etc." are now gone....Well looks like they made a decision and mailed it today probably. Do they call to let you know your in? If not, then this isn't good :/

I wouldn't read too much into the status date change.

Some schools change the dates when they are about to review it.

I certainly wouldn't take it as a sign of rejection.

Btw- my changes as well (161,3.45)

The same thing happened to my status checker about a month ago (i.e. completion date changed and memo noting response time) and I have not heard anything from them.

My worry is that this change means we've reviewed your file and, although we're not sending you a rejection letter just yet, you will probably receive one when the admission cycle is complete.

(I went complete around the beginning of January and the same status checker change that you mentioned happened to me roughly a month later).

Same thing happened to mine too. I'm afraid that we are not going to hear anything until they get finished with all the apps. Probably early April.

I'm thinking most of the acceptance letters will be mailed out a couple of weeks before Admitted Students Day (April 9th). If that is the case, then the last week of March seems like the end of the line.

I checked the status checker today and my date changed from 3/12 to 3/21 and the line "We will make every effort to release admission decisions by early April 2010" was added. Anybody else see this?

I took the LSAT in Feb. and submitted my app when I received my score.

It seems like they might be posting these dates when they begin reviewing the applications. My status complete date changed to complete on 3/17. So they probably started reviewing mine on 3/17, and started reviewing yours on 3/21. I'm just guessing. I also saw a post on LSN where somebody called the admissions office and they said the committee was meeting again this Friday, and that they could call back on Friday to find out their decision. So I'm thinking they are getting ready to send out a bunch of decisions next week.

For those of you still waiting, I would encourage you to call to double check your status with the admissions office. I have been complete since 1/31 and until today still had not heard anything. I try not to bug admissions offices but this is one of the last schools I'm still waiting to hear from before putting down a deposit elsewhere. I finally called today and was informed that I had been rejected. I was told that my rejection letter had been mailed to me in early February. I never received the letter and have been checking my status checker nearly every day with no update other than "Complete" as of 1/31. My status never changed to anything indicating that a decision had been made or mailed so I just assumed they had not gotten around to making a decision because my numbers were borderline.

It's disappointing that I was rejected but I was more upset that I could have known that a month and a half ago! Who knows whether it got lost in the mail or if it ever got sent off in the first place. I just wish they'd updated my status checker so I would have known to be on the look out for a decision. I just wanted to post this in case anyone was in a similar situation. I know we are all sick of waiting around and the thought of waiting when you could have known something much sooner is even worse! Good luck to those of you still waiting to hear from them!

mine was complete 2/3 for over a month until it changed to 3/17 complete and the words ...we'll try to reply by april are gone, but i applied on like 2/1 so it went complete fast...i was thinking maybe they mailed something, but i havent received anything yet.

that makes sense, from what others above have said...so it seems they don't call to let you know your in? well i guess we'll find out soon enough

I live in Atlanta. I don't think it takes almost 2 months for a letter to travel 2 states.
