THE SING BAR
As a natural extension of The Ding Bar, THE SING BAR is hereby established, circa this day, Jan. 16, 2010.
In this thread we post joyous accounts of unexpected acceptance into the highest of high reaches of your cycle.
Either your LSAT or GPA must be below one of the school's lowest 25% figure (or at/very near... we're not the gestapo here) for it to qualify as SING BAR material.
A 179, 3.7 entrance to that School in Connecticut does not qualify as Sing Bar material. In fact, ITT that's a flaggable offense.
We want extreme splitters, double below median'ers, amazing PS statement'ers, people who had the ingenuity to either have one of their friends take the LSAT for them or hack into the LSAC servers (joking) and so forth.
In short, in THE SING BAR thread we celebrate triumph over numerical adversity. Please share and sing along with those who have risen above the numbers. ITT Man and Woman are more than numbers, they're singers, nay, rockstars.

Re: THE SING BAR
Thanks all - you know, as I was making the thread, I quickly realized I had nothing for it yet either. [enter some carriage before the donkey quote] However, it is coming and they will be posted.
I like to think I crafted my application, experience-stacked resume, statements, DS and letters of recommendation in a manner that any adcomm will have to feel like an asshole if they don't take some numerical liberties relative to any rigid cutoff, etc. I'll either gain acceptance to my reaches or they'll have to realize they're assholes. It's a win/win.

My humble GPA just missed the 25% at Illinois, but I was accepted with scholarship. Does this count?

Word. So far you're the lead singer. Post a pic of the rockstar which captures the essence of this Illini victory. Or Indian? Congrats, by the way. The scholarship part of this is amazing unless you missed only 1 on your LSAT due to missbubble or something.ec2xs wrote:My humble GPA just missed the 25% at Illinois, but I was accepted with scholarship. Re: THE SING BAR
My GPA is well below all T14 schools.
I only applied to T14 schools.
I've been accepted to 3 for 3 (of 8 ) so far.
I've been offered a full tuition scholarship at one school.
Life is extremely good.

I had this same situation, and I was outright dinged, so I would say you qualify for the sing bar.z*z wrote:I got into umich below 25th for LSAt, but my GPA was above 75th. Does that count? I am not sure what the standards are for this thread. either way I have been singin for a month now!

YES, belt away.We don't want to make a habit of this though.... more extreme numerical rebels is who the live band tls karaoke stage is intended for ITB (in this bar) but it's a slow night so we'll take it. What school?

Dude for Berkley that's pretty impressive. They are GPA heavy. Also for Berkley I got LSAT 75% and GPA above median and I got FRed.
