I take it you're one of the few not obsessively checking your status checker every day? But even if you check it like I do, which is about once a month, it will tell you the status of your application. Also, so far, schools have been emailing me at every status update, so I'd imagine as soon as your status changes in any way, they'll probably reach out to you. Still, doesn't hurt to be a little proactive and take a gander every once in a while.

Also, make sure you don't make the same mistake I did when looking at this thread. I thought the last few posts were by recent applicants but they're from the end of last cycle.

And also, "long silence"? It's Not even December yet. And with your numbers (which aren't bad but they're not exceptional), they'll probably sit on your app for a while, maybe even WL you into March or so. All top schools are trying to take in the cream of the crop right now. They'll get to us when they've faced the reality that the cream has gone sour, i.e. the 45% drop in applications over the last couple of years has largely come from the top.

ENJOY THANKSGIVING. Destiny has your application now.

Got dinged from UCLA.

That's okay. I'm going to get a 170+ this weekend and go to Penn anyway.

oh boy I basically check my status like every single day, kinda loose if off recently cuz i sorta getthe feeling that is aint gonna change anymore. finish my interview in 11/15but the status update is still stuck in 11/5. whats wrong with my alumni interviewer!i guess they just dont care that much about the status..and its gurelling to see people applying RD getting in while as a ED im still hearing nothing from them.
Interview... ED...? I take it you're talking about Northwestern? Ya, everyone has a different cycle. There's a science to how schools make decisions but I guarantee that none of us have access to any of the formulas. No use in comparing yourself to others. It's better to hear nothing than to get dinged (which is different than being waitlisted, because WL can be grueling).

Just hang tight and relax. Nothing much you can do now.

And no, your stats don't suck. They're just not stellar.

Edit: JK, I just re-read your original post. GULC, right? Ya. Just wait it out in the storm drain with the rest of us bottom-dwellers seeking T14 asylum ;)

Also, random question: is English your first language?

 shame on me for all these typo, was getting used to a new phone
so you are saying if im rejected i would almost certainly receive a ding notification? do they even bother to do that for every applicant? like this early....i doubt that,i thought long silence implys a fat ding.

do they normally reject EDs outright or theyd move them to the RD pool..

GULC just ignored me. event the admission officer stop replying my emails...
but its okay.im having a retake in a next few days. 8)

Time to casually stop by in their parking lot. It's probably raining down there, so bring an umbrella. I'm sure they'll appreciate not getting wet as you're walking them to their car.

You're careful when you write emails to the admissions officer, right? Because if they read anything like this . . .
gigibeirne wrote: event the admission officer stop replying my emails...
then you'd really want to start doing some editing before you send things out.

I'm assuming you're just fast and unconcerned when writing on an internet forum and that I sound obnoxious for pointing out your grammar. But with kids these days and all their texting one can never be sure. So if you, or anyone else out there sends emails like you would send texts, with improper grammar and unconventional spelling, I would strongly recommend not doing that.

Um. Ya.. You really gotta check that status checker, because if it doesn't say anything like "Decision Mailed" or "Wait Listed" or what have you, they probably just haven't reached a decision. Even if you did apply ED, it's still pretty early to start bombarding the admissions office with emails - which I strongly advise against doing. They'd reject you outright if they thought your application sucked/had no chance but what's more likely is that if they don't accept you ED, they'll hold you into RD - but again, it's still not too late to be accepted ED.. you just have to be a tad more patient.

And don't park in GULC's parking lot with an umbrella and boombox over your head blasting your personal statement on repeat. That will NOT go over well.

Just like... study for your re-take.. and maybe find a hobby. Take it easy. You'll be fine.

I wouldn't stress too much yet. I got an email about a week from them saying they were "postponing" my decision, and I'm RD. So they're definitely staying in communication, and I think if you were actually rejected you'd know. When did you go complete/did you interview?
