Joining. I was held a few weeks ago. I'll be sending an updated resume (there were 4 updates since Sept so I think its warranted), LOCI, and I've already sent my updated transcript (my GPA increased .03). My chances are slim but I'm thrilled that I didn't get rejected outrightly.

Yeah I'm kinda worried about that but the only one I can get pronto is from my boss which I already kind of have...
Do they actively expect a new LOR? I am getting that feeling from this H thread

I honestly doubt 99% would help at all, because if they did, people would have already had them as an initial LOR... IMHO all you can do is send a LOCI and any updated grades etc.

I am curious because I anticipate being waitlisted somewhere or other...

I don't think they expect anything than an updated transcript. Sending an additional LOR and LOCI would likely be marginally beneficial.

If it helps at all I'm down - held Thursday - LOR sent today - LOCI in the mail on Monday

I'm going to work on a LOCI and print out a third LOR today (will they take a paper copy? She lives overseas and didn't send to LSAC... I can also send it as a pdf). But I got into Yale yesterday, which took away much of Harvard's sting... Still want the option of H, but I'm pretty happy :)

If I'm still in school is it expected that I send in updated transcripts? How bad would it look if I didn't send them in? I ask, first of all, because my GPA did see a .01 decrease. I know it's not much but psychologically I think it could make a difference (let's just say I went from a nice round number to something you might see at the grocery store :( ) Secondly, I don't want to spend the $10-15 for the new transcript if it's not going to make a difference.

I plan on sending in a LOCI and a new, possibly very good LOR. If I send those in are they going to notice I haven't sent in new transcripts?

Assuming we got the same hold e-mail, it was pretty straightforward that they wanted any new grades. I don't know if it's make or break either way, but I'm sure it could only hurt to not send them. The .01 drop isn't going to matter much I think, especially if your grades are relatively strong anyway . . . they know not every quarter can be progressively better, and a 4.0 to a 3.99 is not going to make them reject you.

i think people aren't going to be released from the JR1-but-no-JR2-then-held purgatory until after the due date for apps (that is feb 1, right?), so i wouldn't put too much stock into anything happening today

edit: yeah, who has been admitted among those who were held?

+1

Also, any idea on whether it looks bad if we don't send an LOCI? I don't want it to look like I'm not interested or something, I just really have nothing to say :|

FWIW, you don't have to send additional LORs through LSDAS. I sent mine directly to Harvard. My LOR writer signed over the seal, and I signed on the bottom of the envelope and wrote my LSAC number next to my signature. The LOR is now posted on my status checker so it went through (and MUCH faster than LSAC would've sent it, btw, it posted in about 4 business days).

Thanks for the info V6.

On another note, how do we address LOCIs?

You address it as:

Dear PERSON who NEEDS to know I am now admitted to STANFORD.

Now admit me. Thank you,

I'm not part of this club (yet), but using "To whom it may concern" is TCR if you have any doubt.

If I get WLed at Columbia (likely), I would entertain the idea of sending something like this, given that hell would have to freeze over before I took CLS over SLS.

There are also the options of:
Dear Harvard law school admissions committee
Dear Harvard Law School Admissions Officer

it's not just josh that reads them, i imagine, and i wouldn't want anyone to feel left out if my fate is in their hands

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
