I think my statements and continued interest throughout the cycle helped a lot. I visited the school, sat in on a class, emailed the teacher of the class and let her know that I really enjoyed her teaching method, and thanking her for letting me observe. I had an awesome talk with Mr. Faulk during my visit, which I think went a long way. I had really strong softs for coming straight out of UG. Many will say I only got in because I'm an URM, but honestly, although being an URM helped a lot, I think the work I put into my application helped a great deal as well.
GL to all still waiting.

Being a URM alone doesn't get you in with a sub-160 LSAT score. No URM with a sub-160 score got into UVA last year.
Congrats, socraticmethodman. You really must be an exceptional applicant!

STFU. UVA is #10. You think he got in with a 156/3.65 just because he was a URM? You know how many URMs apply to UVA with better numbers and don't get in?Impatient wrote:neonx wrote:I am not on the URM hatorade. This is amazing -- and you earned that admissions! Thank you everyone! Like I said, I can admit being an URM helped, but I definitely put a lot of work into my application, and will not let people's comments bring me down.
Good Luck to all still waiting to hear back, and I hope good news finds you soon.

GPA: 3.62
LSAT: 160
Non-URM, Non-Ivy UG
Schools: GW(pt), William and Mary, Ohio State
Optional Essays: None
Was personally notified by GW admissions team that they believed my personal statement to be one of the finer essays that they had seen throughout the cycle. I've been published on multiple occasions, and have conducted presentations to state employees. Also, my application was targeted towards labor law with an ultimate goal of representing unions in collective bargaining negotiations. Prior to my application, I had spent two years with my home state's leading public employees union and had been published in a noteable labor relations journal. I may very well have written myself into law school. I do believe the targeted application helped as well.

This is awesome. Congrats. I am hoping to sneak into GW PT as well. I was convinced they'd accept anyone with a 167, and they wouldn't dip below that. Glad to see you proved my theory wrong.

Dude I just got into GW FT with 164/3.95 and if your LSN is right (barring a terrible application), I'm pretty sure you're in FT and obv PTSupraVln180 wrote:BEAST_mode wrote:GPA: 3.62

GPA: 2.44 , LSAT 167
URM: Y, Black and Hispanic (Honduran)
NAME OF REACH SCHOOL: GW
Optional Essay: N (which is shocking because I SWORE that I sent one in. Oh well!)
Finally, what you think (totally subjective) got you into that school:
Honestly, I think it was my personal statement and the sob story it told. I am the daughter of a Honduran immigrant and a black felon (my father is still in prison and has been since I was 9), but I made it through college and did well on my LSAT. My GPA was low because I was dealing with my own personal health issues and my mothers brain cancer, especially during my first 2 years. I really dont care WHY GW let me in, but they did! LSP had me as a big red DENY, but hell, what do they know
