Why is ASU taking so long to figure out whether or not students are admitted or not admitted? I feel like I am waiting a long time relative to every other school.

They didn't start reviewing apps til end of January.Yellowcard wrote:Why is ASU taking so long to figure out whether or not students are admitted or not admitted? I feel like I am waiting a long time relative to every other school.
I'm surprised people with 157's are getting deffered, considering their median is 159 and 25% is 156. Maybe those #'s are outdated. 159/3.5 haven't heard anything yet, btw.

Re: What's up with Arizona State (ASU)?
The admissions Dean told me they were starting to review apps after the Thanksgiving Holiday. They're just slow. But I do have to give them props on getting out their EA decisions by the end of January as they said they would. I got my "hold" e-mail Sunday night the 31st.
Anyone know how ASU deals with multiple LSAT scores? Do they take the average or just the highest one? I've already signed up to take the June LSAT (my 2nd attempt), in case I get the bad news for this year.

Admitted last week w/ 20k first year and 15k the 2nd year, no mention of 3L money. Any idea why they would do this? It seems a very strange practice. Then again, nothing about ASU has been normal compared to other schools.

That is really strange. Can't imagine why they would keep reducing your scholaship unless they are assuming you will make money in your 2L summer internship? Weird. Did you apply ED?crombot wrote:Admitted last week w/ 20k first year and 15k the 2nd year, no mention of 3L money. Any idea why they would do this? It seems a very strange practice. or maybe if you are out of state and they expect you to qualify for in state tuition by 3L?cLams wrote:That is really strange. Hmmm maybe? I am out of state, but am from Arizona (lived OOS for the past few years though) and my parents live there, so I am guessing that residency wouldn't be too difficult to establish.

In. But with only 10k in 1L and nothing after that. 162/3.7. How do they expect to compete with UofA who is higher ranked and offering more money? I applied in mid January.

Re: What's up with Arizona State (ASU)?
I discussed this with them. They are front-loading awards believing you will have the ability to pay as you will most likely be working in 3L. They also have a grant that expires this year which has allowed them to use excess funds in the upcoming year. So their structure is weird, but that is how they are awarding scholarships. Most students have $0 in 3Lcrombot wrote:Admitted last week w/ 20k first year and 15k the 2nd year, no mention of 3L money. Any idea why they would do this? It seems a very strange practice. In today with full tuition 1L, 20k 2L and 10k 3L. They talk about it being pretty easy to establish residency after the first year, and if so, this is now my cheapest school. They also put together a really nice acceptance packet. I need to visit Tempe.
I applied the first week of December, fyi.

i dunno if there's a correlation betw application date and response date but either way it satisfies my irrational desire to feel like i know whats happening w my life.

Re: What's up with Arizona State (ASU)?
Just accepted today with $. HUGE packet.
Also, I heard that it was very difficult to establish residency (not easy as previously suggested). Makes sense due to it being a border state.

Yellowcard, I'm with ya on that one. I also got more $$ from U of A. ASU has got to know that they are sharing applicants, and that they are going to have to fight for the people with the higher numbers. I can't imagine their budget would be that different either...? But I could be wrong.Yellowcard wrote:In. But with only 10k in 1L and nothing after that. 162/3.7. How do they expect to compete with UofA who is higher ranked and offering more money?
