U Arkansas (Fayetteville) 2010
As far as I can tell this thread doesn't exist, and if it already does I will delete it.
Anyways got my acceptance via snail mail. I have a number of Apps still out, but its nice to actually here from someone.
Wanted to hear if anyone had plans of attending?

I'm applying after I get my December scores, I'm also applying to Bowen in Little Rock and a number of other schools just to be safe.

I'm from Texas but I thought Arkansas sounded like a pleasant place to be. They gave me a nice scholarship deal, but I have 21 other Apps out (i got carried away) so we will see what happens.
For the Ark residents, whats Fayetville area like? also, any others plan on attending?

We have lived in Bentonville (just north of Fayetteville) for about 6 months, and we love it here!

IN as of 1/14. A 10 day turnaround. 'Twas delightful. Arkansas is my last choice, but still nice to be in somewhere.
From Little Rock, here. Fayetteville is a college town...lots of good bars and good food. The place is full of hillbillies and college students who love to party. The campus is gorgeous, due in large part to the amazing landscape. But outside of drinking, studying, and outdoor activities, Fayetteville doesn't provide much in the way of entertainment. Though, I've never gone to the school, and I'm sure they have daily (and nightly) events for students. I know that UA Law sponsors a lot of seminars with some fascinating legal minds.
Just my two cents. I dig the place, but it's a medium-sized town. Don't expect the perks of a city.

In on 1/24, intrigued by the low cost of tuition and the scholarship size. Anyone have a good handle on job prospects of UA grads in and around Arkansas?

I too would like to hear about job prospects. They sent me basically a directory of all the students and staff. I mean if you had a ridiculosly good looking class body it would seem a good recruiting tool, I'm not really sure why I got it though.

Got in here with a little scholarship money. Unlikely to go though. I like the culture of the state but the town is just too small for my liking. You'll likely see me either at LSU, Miami or UNLV. If you like the culture of the South (which I do, even though I'm from New Mexico I generally like the South) and if you like a small town then you will probably like the school.

I dug around a little bit and found a forum actually dedicated to the law school.
Its not very active anymore, but there are quite a lot of old posts to dig through.
You do have to register to see it.

I did my undergrad and masters at the U of A. (I've also been accepted to law school here!) I love Fayetteville! It is definitely a college town, one to rival Oxford or Athens. The city proper isn't huge - about 60,000- but the metropolitan area is approaching half a million. It's an area that is growing very quickly because of Walmart, retail vendors, Tyson and JB Hunt. The nightlife is fabulous! Dickson Street rivals Beale and Bourbon, only less dangerous and odorous. Everyone here loves Razorback/SEC, so prepare yourself for indoctrination if you are OOS or out-of-conference, as the case may be.doubled99 wrote:anyone out there with more information? any current students?
If you want to work in Arkansas, Fayetteville is a great place to go to school. There are a variety of excellent firms. In NWA, there are a lot of BigLaw firms, many filtering up from Little Rock. A lot of the firms are external council for Walmart, et al. and real estate law is big here because the area is growing exponentially. Securities law is also a safe bet because Stephens Inc, a middle-market and privately held I-bank, recruits council from AR. And for your dose of pop culture, John Grisham's The Firm is based on Rose Law in Little Rock. There is a competitive market here with billing rates for newbies hovering around $200/hour for many firms. Since tuition and COL are cheap, it's easy to see that you could live well here once you graduate.
I would totally recommend Fayetteville to anyone, and the school is great if you want to live in Arkansas!
