Re: University of North Carolina 2013
I am now extremely nervous to even step near my mailbox!
These recent rejections and waitlists do not bode well for me. The only thing that makes me different from some of those applicants is my 4 years of work experience.
Best of luck though to everyone!

I called UNC to ask what was up with my wl. The guy I talked to wasn't rude or mean, just kind of indifferent. Anyways, I asked if there was anything wrong with my app that concerned them so I could explain it in a letter and was told that my app was very impressive but they just only have "a few" spots left but that there was still a very reasonable chance I would get accepted off the wl.
Soo, because I'm super nosy, I asked why I got a wl while tons of people with similiar numbers have not gotten a wl letter yet and was told that was only because I had applied the first day apps became available so they just got to mine first.
No idea what they meant by having only a few spots left. I'll probably stay on the wl just because I don't want to think back and wish i had, although I did just buy a wake forest hoodie!!!
I think I would have been happier not knowing this. Though when I spoke to the admin office it didn't seem to me that the situation was that dire. I believe that we will not know the true situation until we happen to get out decision letters and aside from that it is out of our hands completely. Speculation is just causing undue stress at this point

Do you think they meant "few spots left" for your particular LSAT/GPA range combo?

Keep in mind it's very possible that they still have half of their seats open and only told me "a few" to avoid hurting my feelings.

For those of you who may have to deposit elsewhere before hearing from UNC you can request a deposit extension. Just shoot an email to whatever the school is and explain they are a top choice but you would like to visit/check out another school before you commit. You will probably get a two week extension with very little fuss, and possibly another 1-2 week one after that but be prepared for some lip service

Last night I dreamt that I got a waitlist letter from UNC. I had a similar dream about getting a WL e-mail from Wake Forest and that happened. So not only am I clairvoyant, but I also dread checking my mail even more.

Jesus, that is not what any of us needed to read.
As someone who has been in touch with literally dozens of UNC Law students over the past few years, however, I'd just caution and remind folks that the majority of people I know were accepted after March 15th. Yes, it's possible that they're on a quicker timetable than in years' past, but given the LSN numbers and what we've been able to gather from this board, it doesn't really seem to be the case.
LSN lists 30 acceptances, about a third of them URMs. Of the 20 or so remaining, the majority list LSAT scores at or in excess of 165. Assuming LSN is reasonably representative of the class, and given that we know UNC's average LSAT score is not 165, it figures there's likely to still be at least one more wave of admittances you'd expect to be in the 161-164 range. In addition, the majority of accepted students in the elevated LSAT range appear to have applied before mid-December (which is the benchmark I'm using to gauge my chances, as that's when I applied).
Maybe I'm deluding myself, but I think there's still reason for hope.

I think it's safe to say at this point that they're reviewing in-staters now and that they're not going alphabetically (considering that they told lml her decision time was due to her early application). lml, I hope you stick with the wl. There's no harm in it.

What the heck? UNC's admisison makes no sense whatever to me. I'm really sorry to hear about that. I now have no hope whatsoever because my numbers aren't nearly as good as yours and I am OOS.JuiceMan wrote:WL today. 164/3.4 in-state.

as in "just" like at 4:11? Do you think there could still be a chance that an email would come tonight for those of us who haven't received the email yet? I'm wondering if they sent out one big batch or if they're slowly sending one at a time out type of thing.
Also, what does Hispanic non-URM mean? Thanks and huge congrats!!!
