My recs for supplements:
Torts-Like the above poster said, not really a lot of great torts supplements out there, and I'm not sure how necessary they are. E&E is good for practice problems though.
Contracts-Chirelstein is the gold standard here for almost all sections.
Property- Loved the Nutshell. The Nutshells are actually really good in a lot of classes when it comes to outlining. They're concise but hit the big stuff hard.
Con Law- Chemerinsky is usually the go-to. I had La Pierre and there were times I could have sworn he was reading straight from Chemerinsky.
Civ Pro- Glannon's Guide and the E&E were both really solid.
Criminal Law- Dressler can be really solid depending on the book your class uses. I thought it was helpful.
When in doubt, go with an E&E to start. They are generally pretty helpful and the practice problems are great.

Hello incoming 1Ls. I graduated from WashU law this year and will be moving out of STL next month. I have a bunch of furniture I'm looking to sell:
-queen size bed frame, headboard, matching dresser, and side table
-queen size pillow-top mattress (originally paid $1500)
-double bed with frame
-double futon
-couch (not in the best shape so offering for very cheap)
-wood dining room table with 6 matching chairs
-glass/wood coffee table
-32" HD TV (1 year old)
-20" HD TV
-Wii with Rockband (includes 2 guitars and drums)
-wood TV stand
-2 bookshelves
-glass L-shape desk, perfect for studying
-lots of kitchen stuff - dishes, pots, pans, microwave
-and...a CAR! (2000 Toyota Celica)
PM me if you're interested. Thanks! And good luck.

So what are there any risks or cons to getting an older version?romothesavior wrote:For those of you starting to think abou ... and books.
Oh, and for those of you looking for ways to save money, don't spend much on books. Used, Amazon, upperclassmen, even old editions (at least for supplements) are your friend. I know people who would buy brand new books from the bookstore every semester and always had the latest and most current supplements and shit like that. It's beyond silly and it has no correlation to grades.
I envision one might be older/out of date example questions and answers from the E & E. But this could be solved by trading books with a friend for a weekend.
Does anyone have any thoughts on use of the HornBooks?
Edit:
Hoos- Do you rent from the online places or do/can you rent from the uni bookstore?

Buying used on Amazon and re-selling is MUCH cheaper than renting. It can conceivably cost you $0 or close to it.
And if you can't re-sell it online, it's likely because there is a new edition of the book out, and like hoos said, you wouldn't be able to rent in that case anyway.

I just leased a place from Byron. Most of the negative reviews online reference the office staff being less than helpful, and I would have to admit that they were a pretty low-energy bunch. They were also less than enthusiastic about renting me a place without me being in town to see it or having a local proxy to do so... it took some pressing on my part to make it happen. Also, their leases run back-to-back. If you get into a place for 8/1, there's a decent chance it was occupied as recently as 7/31 and you may have the Byron staff doing the turnover repairs and cleaning around you and your stuff over the first couple of weeks of your occupancy.LawSchoolAFROBarbie wrote:Hey, has anyone heard anything good or bad about the byron company? thinking about leasing an apartment from them.
That being said, if you want to live within walking distance of campus your choices are basically Byron, Quadrangle, or a private landlord. I did not want to rent from someone privately because it just seemed too risky and the Byron properties all seemed to have more features and space than the Quadrangle ones for less money, so I went with Byron.
Not sure if that helps you at all, but there you go.

My vote is cuse.
Not looking forward to spending three years with these insufferable gunners that don't realize that law school isn't exactly like TLS and that people should just wait to see what books their professors assign them instead of buying supplements beforehand. God. Effin gunners.

Thank you very much, funny thing is im also out of town and when i called today the office staff wouldnt help me at all. I haven't done a damn thing to prepare for law school. This is the time for me to enjoy my life before it is consumed. I'll get to that stuff soon enough.cusenation wrote:Actually I think i'm the only person ITT who hasn't read/bought GTMshifty_eyed wrote:Which WUSTLer ITT is doing the most 0L prep?

No luck with MyLaw for me either. I also can't get the go.wustl.edu e-mail address working in iOS or my desktop Outlook. Most importantly, I can't change my display name from Robert to Rob, which will slowly drive me insane over the next 3 years.cusenation wrote:Am i the only one that can't get into MyLaw even though everything else is activated and working?
