IN! and so pumped. 173 and 3.51 ED, which means I'm at the 75% and below the 25%, so keep hope alive, other minor splitters! I'm on the west coast and my letter was dated 12/1 like everyone else.

That makes two (you and columbiagirl) ED acceptances in my range. Getting nervous.joemck wrote:IN! and so pumped. 173 and 3.51 ED, which means I'm at the 75% and below the 25%, so keep hope alive, other minor splitters! I'm on the west coast and my letter was dated 12/1 like everyone else.

Shouldn't you be the opposite of nervous after receiving this news?? Surely it's just a matter of time now. Optimistic me: Sweet, the acceptances that I'm bound to be in are sent. Can't wait to see that envelope in the mail tomorrow/Wednesday!
Pessimistic me: Every day that goes by increases the likelihood I wasn't in this batch, which (if this is the only batch of ED acceptances) implies I'm out.

It seems like a lot of the acceptances have been RD, so I'm sure that we'll see more ED after this group.LieutKaffee wrote:Hmmm.managamy wrote:Shouldn't you be the opposite of nervous after receiving this news?? Ugh there a daunting gap on LSN between 3.8 and 4.0 GPA for people with a 169 which I hope to fill tomorrow.

+1. There's a very high number of median-below median LSATs with high GPAs here.

Does anyone know when NYU usually sends scholarship notices?

Congrats! I hope that means there's hope yet for a reverse splitter like me!

For those of you who got it....did you write an NYU-specific personal statement/addendum?

EDIT: I didn't feel that they especially appreciated such statements. Their LSAT / GPA graph generally shows very consistent admission patterns, leading me to hypothesize that stats >>>>>> softs in their calculations.

Congrats!! Can I inquire, how was the envelope sent to you - USPS Priority, First Class or a courier service? I'm based abroad as well (Asia) and so wanted to have an idea of how long I should wait before giving up hope.of Benito Cereno wrote:in RD.

And yes, you can apply for a scholarship later as well. I think you need to submit your essay by the 1st of January, and you can e-mail it to the admissions office directly.

Re: NYU 2010
not exactly - they didn't really ask for the same kind of "optional essays" that a lot of other schools did.ravens20 wrote:For those of you who got it....did you write an NYU-specific personal statement/addendum?
However i had a couple things that i wanted to point out, so I sent a "supplementary information" page explaining why i was out of work for several months (laid off, not related to performance) and that i come from a working class family and I am the first to pursue a graduate degree
Etc.

Re: NYU 2010
I hate to highjack the thread away from the positive vibes of recent acceptances...congrats to all! I sent in my app in mid-november and received an e-mail telling me that they received my app on Nov. 17. I still haven't gotten a complete e-mail. I know NY schools lag a little, but does the gap in time seem unusual? Should I call the admissions office (I haven't had overly-positive experiences in the past with the NYU admissions office...) Thanks!

Re: NYU 2010
It's maybe slightly long but not extraordinary, especially with the Thanksgiving holiday. I'd give them a little more time before contacting them...say a week or so.TheWire wrote:I hate to highjack the thread away from the positive vibes of recent acceptances...congrats to all! same purple envelope everyone gets, red postage mark from december 3rd, "presorted first class." not sure who delivered (ups, fedex, etc) cause mail gets delivered to the concierge, she just slipped it under my door.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
