Re: Harvard 2010!
Just had mine, it lasted about 9 minutes. Probably 3 or 4 minutes of that was him answering my questions. The interview really is straightforward. He asked me one or two follow-up questions, but for the most part, the interview consists of you answering the three questions he sends you in the JR1 email. I think it went okay, it's hard to tell.

Re: Harvard 2010!
My JR1 today was only 7 1/2 minutes and he only asked about 5 questions. Not sure if that's good or bad, but it's probably neither! He's a very pleasant conversationalist, I must say. I asked him about his own Harvard experience and he was very informative.

Congrats you guys that had interviews today. I'm sure you did fine. I get so nervous in that kind of situation that afterwards I can barely remember what I said, but usually it all works out in the end...

His voice is quite smooth and reassuring, which helped me relax. It was a very friendly experience overall.

What questions did he ask you? And what did you ask him?managamy wrote:My JR1 today was only 7 1/2 minutes and he only asked about 5 questions. No email for me. If he's really going by completion date/under review date, it's not looking good for meallyb wrote:i haven't gone complete yet. i went under review 11/9 and got the email 11/16.

Not really surprising given my GPA, but I'm hoping he's just doing the high GPA's now...

Re: Harvard 2010!
He asked 1) what courses I was taking, 2) about my Honors Thesis essay, 3) about what I did at university outside classes, 4) reasons for interest in law, 5) reasons for interest in HLS.
I asked him about his experience in Harvard's clinical programs and his relationships with professors on a one-to-one level.

He didn't ask for any details about my honors thesis, but I guess that makes me lucky, because I probably would have rambled about it for ten minutes until he politely asked me to stop.

Re: Harvard 2010!
I had my JR1 call recently, and have been "Under Review" for ~3 weeks...but still no email saying my app is "Complete!" Does everyone who submits an app get a 'Complete' notification regardless of whether or not they get a JR1?

hmm. i didn't even give him the chance to ask for details before launching into a little talk about mine. maybe that was a woopsie. wouldn't have been the only oneowhlcn wrote:+ 1.tomhobbes wrote:He didn't ask for any details about my honors thesis, but I guess that makes me lucky, because I probably would have rambled about it for ten minutes until he politely asked me to stop.

Re: Harvard 2010!
yeah. i could have done the same given the chance, maybe i should be glad he didn't give it to me either. he seemed pretty nonplussed by what i had to say, maybe it was because i got him at the end of a long day, maybe because every interviewee and their mom is writing an honors thesis. who knows.owhlcn wrote:GargamelITT wrote:hmm. i didn't even give him the chance to ask for details before launching into a little talk about mine. maybe that was a woopsie. wouldn't have been the only oneowhlcn wrote:+ 1.tomhobbes wrote:He didn't ask for any details about my honors thesis, but I guess that makes me lucky, because I probably would have rambled about it for ten minutes until he politely asked me to stop.

there were also a couple times i thought i might have interrupted him by accident (it was hard to tell, because the connection wasn't stellar), and that would be an obvious no-no.
it's funny, right after i had the interview i felt fine about it, but it hasn't even been that long since and already i've considered every possible place it went or might have gone wrong. brutal. sorta like the post-LSAT experience all over again.

Re: Harvard 2010!
agreed. in my mind the interview has gotten progressively worse since it took place even though it seemed ok right after it happened. wish i could turn my brain off for the next few days 'til people start hearing back...GargamelITT wrote: it's funny, right after i had the interview i felt fine about it, but it hasn't even been that long since and already i've considered every possible place it went or might have gone wrong. brutal. sorta like the post-LSAT experience all over again.

Re: Harvard 2010!
I'm sending mine tomorrow. I wish I had taken care of this earlier, but I've heard that before Thanksgiving is still considered somewhat "early." Unless you are identical in every way to somebody who's already received a JR1 - in that case you might be in trouble.adameus wrote:Do you think I'm screwed if I haven't applied yet?
Anyway, I look forward to joining the rest of you in breathless anticipation. Good luck everyone.
