I never had huge issues with rush hour traffic in the triangle area. I think you'd be fine.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Oh yeah, compared what I have now 15-20 minutes is nothing lol. I'm glad to hear that sounds like the norm. She went there for undergrad so she knows the area pretty well and since neither of us wants to do the full commute (i.e. live right by school and her have the full drive or vice versa) she was looking at places in RTP that she said would be 15-20 minutes each, which doesn't seem bad. Obviously depends on exactly where you end up, but it seems like it's pretty doable if you're willing to split commute.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Anyone know what the commute between Durham-Raleigh is like, My SO is looking at one of the two for work but we may not know where she is working by the time we have to get living arrangements and may have to just make a decision.
I know they're real close as a trip, but I'm worried about splitting the difference and having to make the commute everyday. Can anyone speak to traffic/commute type around that area?

My sister and her husband live in the southern part of Durham and used to split a commute with her going to UNC Chapel Hill and him going to Raleigh for work. That's really good news if they were OK with doing what would be my full community everyday, splitting Durham-Raleigh should be nothing.laqueredup wrote:My sister and her husband live in the southern part of Durham and used to split a commute with her going to UNC Chapel Hill and him going to Raleigh for work. I guess coming from DC commuting I have about the worst possible view of problems around commuting

When I check my status, I see "Decision made; watch for email." And it's been like that for over a week? Isn't that a bit weird - like, how long does it take to send an email? D: My LSAT is over the 75% and my GPA is the median soooo...

Yeah, and even if I somehow missed the e-mail, wouldn't it go to "Accepted" or "Denied" on the status checker? I'm just confused at the timing. If they already made a decision, isn't it better to let me know now?Keilz wrote:Did you check your spam?lauren22 wrote:When I check my status, I see "Decision made; watch for email." Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I was given a PT and then they told me they were just going to give me RD. I thought it was weird at the time, since I've gotten into higher-ranked schools... But I know each school has its own process.

The status checker remains at decision made. Keep an eye on your mailings because a welcome packet should pop up after acceptance eventually. What do you mean they took away your PT?lauren22 wrote:Yeah, and even if I somehow missed the e-mail, wouldn't it go to "Accepted" or "Denied" on the status checker? I'm just confused at the timing. Just wondering - how do you determine if you are even close to qualifying for need-based aid? I can get info from my parents, but I don't want to go through the hassle if there's literally 0% chance that it will make a difference.jjcorvino wrote:There are slots starting the 12th when I checked. Re: Duke Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Thanks for that information. I should have been clearer; I was offered Priority Track admission and then received an e-mail in Oct. saying I was on the "Priority Reserve list for the 2017 entering class." So I guess that's the waiting list? I just thought it was odd to be placed on the waiting list so early in the cycle.chargers21 wrote:For me, my status checker changed to "look for email" or whatever, then I got the email like 5 hours later, then the welcome packet thing popped up a few days later. I looked at this thread, though, and it looks like they have a history of doing this with applicants with similar scores as mine. The consensus seems to be that they're putting people on PR who they think don't have a real interest in going.
So my question is - since my status checker is "Decision made," does that mean it's different than the Priority Reserve decision? Because in that case, wouldn't it just say WL?

To quote, "I think its their way of weeding out people who are just applying with no real interest of going." It looks like those people didn't write a Why Duke. I definitely did, though, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Went UR on 12/19. My status checker changed to 12/21, "info required; watch for email." Is this a sign of me getting waitlisted?

I don't believe so since it says "Info required"... I believe if you were WL'd, you'd see "Decision made; watch for email." Maybe they have a question about something in your app or want some supplemental info from you!tinafeyclone wrote:Went UR on 12/19. Just a guess, but if you're still in undergrad they might be holding your app until you get your fall grades to them.tinafeyclone wrote:Went UR on 12/19. My status checker changed to 12/21, "info required; watch for email." Is this a sign of me getting waitlisted?
