I'm in almost the same position as you and it's killing me. Is going under FR a good sign or a bad sign? (Sorry if this has been addressed before)
It isn't a great sign, but I think the consensus is that it is better than being waitlisted/rejected straight out. There is still as chance of being accepted. We will have a better idea by the 5th when FR1 decisions are released.
I never even went FR though... still sitting at UR 11/30.
I'm UR 12/21, and I've given up trying to sleuth out patterns. I've tried extensively, and there are just too many what ifs since we don't really know what's going on over there. Truthfully, I've resigned myself to the fact that since others in my time frame have been accepted and put into faculty review, but not denied, it doesn't seem like a good sign. However, since there are so many variables, and we don't know the process, all results are inconclusive. Whatever happens, happens.

Has anyone who went UR 12/21 been dinged?
Not yet.

"We are excited to announce..." No. You shouldn't be allowed to use that wording for anything other than an acceptance email. :(

Berkeley, you tease!

I've un subscribed from so many email newsletters because getting one at all makes me excited, let alone getting one from a school.

I was going to post on here to warn everyone to not get their hopes up.. Too late. I feel as if whoever drafted this email took a lot of pleasure in adding in "excited." Like they knew exactly what they were doing to us.

Would Berkeley's matching scholarship program include stipends too, like the Darrow from Michigan?

They don't match stipends, or at least that was their policy last year. Max match is full tuition.
