Re: Penn c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Got the call! Congrats to everyone else. I was under review 12/24 (wasn't sure if that was UR1 or UR2, but apparently it was UR2), so that should give some hope to those with later UR dates hoping for the call today!

Re: Penn c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
That's what it says for all URs. UR1 vs. UR2 is just the date changes, so if 1/5 was the first you saw this status, you're UR1.wrestlme431 wrote:Can anyone help me decipher what my status indicates.
Complete: 12/11
Then my status changed to something I can't remember. I think it was "in queue for review" Can anyone confirm for me this is usually what follows complete.
"Under Committee review": 1/5
Am I UR1 or UR2?

ur1 12/11 - pretty sure I'm in admissions purgatory, doomed to forever hang in limbo...
eta- congrats to all the admits. and condolences to the dings/wl.

Sorry to hear that. You seem like a strong (and safe) candidate for UPenn admissions. I'm starting to get scared seeing how Penn is rejecting strong candidates.... Is this cycle really harder than others?cc1012 wrote:Waitlisted today as well.

Does anyone know if they call international (specifically Canada)? I'm UR2 12/24 and have heard no things yet.

Strangely enough, Law School Predictor had me as a safe admit, yet MyLSN had me at a 36% chance which is far lower than similarly ranked schools.december1205 wrote:Sorry to hear that. Rejected today--
3.5 GPA 164 LSAT
URM
I'm in the uncomfortable position of transferring during undergrad with a low 3's GPA (after two years) and graduating with a 3.89 (after three years)... I'd hoped they would see an upward trend but.... yeah.
Good luck to everyone else!

Do you know where those myLSN numbers come from? Mine say I have a better chance at Penn (38%) than Michigan (10%) while I've been admitted to Michigan and feel very strongly I won't be to Penn.cc1012 wrote:Strangely enough, Law School Predictor had me as a safe admit, yet MyLSN had me at a 36% chance which is far lower than similarly ranked schools.december1205 wrote:Sorry to hear that. Ditto. I'm an URM with similar stats, 172 and 3.6. Starting to think the TLS predictor isn't that accurate.cc1012 wrote:Strangely enough, Law School Predictor had me as a safe admit, yet MyLSN had me at a 36% chance which is far lower than similarly ranked schools.december1205 wrote:Sorry to hear that. It's not a TLS predictor. It's self-reported numbers drawn from lawschoolnumbers. Have y'all never actually read the stuff on mylsn?James.K.Polk wrote:Do you know where those myLSN numbers come from?

I believe that they are taken from profiles on lawschoolnumbers. Some say that it is the most reliable way to estimate your chances and it has been fairly reliable for me with the exception of a couple of surprises (all of them bad).James.K.Polk wrote:Do you know where those myLSN numbers come from? From what I hear, Penn has a tendency to YP. Not saying that that is what this is, just throwing that out there as a possibility.clarf wrote:Ditto. I'm an URM with similar stats, 172 and 3.6. I'm talking about the discrepancy between the TLS predictor and MyLSN. Seems like MyLSN is better to follow.lymenheimer wrote:clarf wrote:Ditto. I'm an URM with similar stats, 172 and 3.6. From what I've seen, LSP hasn't been updated in several years, whereas MyLSN updates after each cycle. Considering how much admissions practices have changed in the last few years, MyLSN should give you a much more accurate insight into your likely results than LSP. Also, if you read about the documentation on LSP, it explicitly warns about using a fixed bump for URM, rather than using actual results like MyLSN, so LSP is especially less-than-useful for URMs.clarf wrote:

Re: Penn c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm really sorry to hear that:(. I didn't write a "Why Penn". I was very shocked and excited to be accepted! I was hoping for at least a waitlist because I'm taking the LSAT again in February. I'm not sure what soft factors played a part in my acceptance. I'm from Louisiana, and I aspire to be a law professor (significant portion of my PS). Maybe they want future professors or maybe Louisiana isn't represented yet in their class for diversity purposes! I wish you the best. Don't lose hope!Nnndddd wrote:jleon25 wrote:Got the call today!
