The only successes I've had over the last couple of weeks are avoiding waitlist/rejection waves. But I'm holding onto those successes as tightly as I can.

Been in review since mid-October; on the bright side, escaped the WLs and dings so far... but... so, what does this mean, guys?

From the mylsn timeline from last year and the year before it looks like if you get skipped over for the initial wave of acceptances for your complete date basically anything can happen at any time, but the next big wave is waitlist starting in April.

i feel like i saw a chart that indicated a ton of rejections in february, followed by a wave of acceptances and some rejections in march, then the big movement in april as they do their final review of held applications and fill out their class.
let me try to find that. . .

Maybe this from mylsn?mwonka wrote:i feel like i saw a chart that indicated a ton of rejections in february, followed by a wave of acceptances and some rejections in march, then the big movement in april as they do their final review of held applications and fill out their class.

But I hope not, because your description sounds more optimistic than this chart...

yeah, i think that was it.
for some reason in my head i was picturing a chart with only red in february, but i must have contrived it. honestly i don't think it looks that ominous, considering stanford's acceptance rate. high hopes for march!

Same but with a mid-Nov complete date. Terrified of seeing DLS.fra wrote:Oct 31 complete date and I'm too scared to check the status checker.

I feel much worse about my late-January application after seeing those graphs/timelines. Bad call, self.

Booo how is everyone able to check their status check? I've tried a million times using the link they sent in the email to no cigar.
It hasn't been working for a really long while now.

Assuming there are viable non-Stanford options on the table, how does one end up hanging around on the wait list until July or August? Wouldn't someone in that position have already deposited/committed to a different law school in April/May? Or are those late late late acceptances people who aren't going to law school if they don't go to Stanford?

People withdraw from the school they're committed to. I mean, the thing about getting off the WL at Stanford (or Y or H) is that you're really just as well off as if you had been accepted in January (there's no merit based aid to run out of, so you'll still get whatever need aid is coming to you). Sure, you lose the deposit but I'm sure to some people that $500 or whatever is worth it.ub3r wrote:Assuming there are viable non-Stanford options on the table, how does one end up hanging around on the wait list until July or August? I've actually seen a lot of people on LSN from last year that jumped ship from Harvard to Stanford in July or August when they got in off the WL at Slc39 wrote:People withdraw from the school they're committed to. Possibly for better need aid or just preference

Re: Stanford Law School c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I think the small size of Stanford appeals to many people. It seems like there are more opportunities to go around (relative to the number of people seeking them) which might help make law school a tad less cutthroat. Then again, some people like the size of Harvard and how large the alumni network is so it probably is a preference thing.trynalaw123 wrote:I've actually seen a lot of people on LSN from last year that jumped ship from Harvard to Stanford in July or August when they got in off the WL at Slc39 wrote:People withdraw from the school they're committed to. Not to mention getting into one of those schools late can create some sweet, sweet leverage opportunities.lc39 wrote:People withdraw from the school they're committed to. If you're getting an error about the user name, try switching to IE. I got errors using Chrome and Firefox, but it works in IE.rararara111 wrote:Booo how is everyone able to check their status check? I've tried a million times using the link they sent in the email to no cigar.![]()

So I'm not the only one w/ status check issues? I tried Safari, Chrome, Firefox and SLS SC doesn't recognize my username/password (or just username on the password reset page).rararara111 wrote:morningstar wrote:If you're getting an error about the user name, try switching to IE. That said, I submitted a resume update and received a response that it would be added to my file. Assuming this means I'm not ding'd yet?

Omg this has been posted a million times haha. You're probably checking the LLM Status Checker instead of the JD Status Checker. This is the correct SC: https://www.law.stanford.edu/degrees/jd ... atus-check
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
