The 509 shows some pretty substantial grants (83% receive a grant, at an average of $9.7k). This is completely separate from the scholly amount, correct? Any current/former students confirm the grant situation?
I think 9.7k is the average of people that get any money at all, including scholarships and grants

My year most instate people got a 3K grant, which was in addition to whatever merit scholarship you got

Does the 509 for UT look different than the 509s for other schools? Doesn't "grant" always just mean "money" on there?

That's definitely grants and scholarships.

Congratulations! Based on the limited information that this forum has provided, I feel like OOS applicants have had a lot of luck this cycle at UT!

I think, based on what I've heard, you should assume no offer. I haven't heard anything either though. It's been almost 3 weeks.

I got my admit on 1/27 and then my scholarship offer about a week later.

Accepted yesterday. Applied early December. OOS and wrote why Texas.

<25 GPA >75 LSAT

No phone call but received e-mail to access FreshLaw and saw that status checker was updated this morning.

Super disheartened. Just saw on LSN where three girls with my LSAT score and within .1 points of my GPA (all = or below) have gotten in over the past few days, all in undergrad per their profiles. Still waitlisted. I've got loads of relevant work experience, but I'm sure it could have been plenty of things that left us with different decisions. I'm only surprised because I've been told at both the reaches I got into my work experience was the biggest factor in bringing me in (after the grades, i'm sure).

LSN is a real heartbreaker sometimes. Time to redouble my waitlist efforts and pray that feb score got me over that 167 threshold they seem to try to hold. Congrats new admits! Austin is incredible.

I'd love to hear from anyone who got off the waitlist at UT. Is checking in once a month with a LOCI and requesting a visit sometime in the next month the best way to keep them updated and show interest? I can't decide if I should send the one I've written now or after I get my retake score back.

Best of luck to you! I got waitlisted as well but since I found out just recently about my waitlist offer, I have to wait to retake the LSAT in June
I'm also not too sure if I should send a LOCI now and let them know that I plan to retake (even though it feels so far from now). Although I'm in the same boat as you, I think it would be in your best interest to wait until you get your score back, since it's coming in a matter of weeks and in the meantime try to visit the school.

For everyone who did not get a scholarship offer as of yet, FAFSA may be another possible route. Looking on their website "the priority deadline for financial aid is March 1. FAFSA applications received by that date will ensure students the best possible financial aid awards available. Grant funds, in particular, are limited and may become exhausted later in the process." So get those FAFSAs in!

Anyone know the likelihood of successfully negotiating a merit scholarship w Texas? Got in last Wednesday & haven't heard anything re: $$$. UCLA offered me a 50% scholarship today. I'm a CA resident.

The typical timeline is about a month to hear back about $$ after admission.

They definitely do negotiation - http://www.utexas.edu/law/finaid/schola ... match.html

ETA: although I can't attest to how successful you will be or how they view UCLA (peer or not)
