Haha. About that... We have multiple summers. Just FYI. There's Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, Hell Summer, and Summer 2.cannibal ox wrote:Sign me up.rion91 wrote:We don't even have 53 days of winter herecannibal ox wrote:I'm looking forward to this "weather" you Texans have down there. Probably renting a house in Crestview/Brentwood for SX. Bought the "close to light rail" line in the description.rion91 wrote:I was driving up Lamar and saw three obvious out of towners. Dressed up in hipster SXSW gear but up near Justin Ln & Lamar. No reason they would be there except trying to get the rail :p

I consider it more to be a winter, before summer, summer, and after summer designations myselfrion91 wrote:Haha. About that... We have multiple summers. Just FYI. Man the traffic is terrible today. Went to campus today for something. Ended up sitting on the bus for like an hour instead of the usual 20 mins. I did have the chance to talk to a really nice young couple from France though

You might notice that most of our old cars aren't rusting from the bottom since we almost never use salt on the roadscannibal ox wrote:We get 2 seasons up here; winter, and road work season.

Living in Texas just to go to school usually isn't enough. You'd need to marry someone who is a resident, own a business or property there, and/or work for a year (and student jobs don't count). You can find more information here.whjohnso444 wrote:is it easy to get in state tuition after a year??

No. BTW, under the regs, those things listed above are merely factors and are not themselves enough to establish domicile. THECB rules include this extra tidbit when considering those factors: "An individual whose initial purpose for moving to Texas is to attend an institution of higher education as a full-time student will be presumed not to have the required intent to make Texas his or her domicile; however, the presumption may be overruled by clear and convincing evidence."whjohnso444 wrote:is it easy to get in state tuition after a year??

Do we think there will be much movement this week? I haven't seen a ton of new admits in the last few days, but I'm hopeful I'll hear soon..

Texas looks like it's more a trickle decision school. When did you go complete/processed on the status checker?meb1212 wrote:Do we think there will be much movement this week? I haven't seen a ton of new admits in the last few days, but I'm hopeful I'll hear soon..

Submitted 2/12; complete on status checker 2/26. I know it hasn't been very long, but I have seen some of the other apps from around or just before the same time slowly getting answers (per LSN).rion91 wrote:Texas looks like it's more a trickle decision school. It looks like out of all the requests, only one from 1/28 to present has been accepted. So really it could be another week or two before we hear anything. Admissions might be a tad understaffed since it is spring break here at UT.meb1212 wrote:Submitted 2/12; complete on status checker 2/26. The university I work at does not close/slow down at any of the business offices during spring break. It's a real bummer.

Just now getting around to booking my hotel for the March 20/21 ASW. You guys staying both Thursday and Friday night? I was contemplating saving a few shekels and heading out of town after the social event Friday afternoon, but the lure of partying in Austin on Friday night is strong...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
