Logged on just to send some encouragement your way! It's all going to work out in your favor, Misto. There is going to be a lot of movement this cycle and you'll be in before you know it. Keep your head up! It's going to be okayiMisto wrote:Thanks... I know. Just feel shitty. Also deferred to RD. I think it is not too surprising they are deferring a lot of people. Probably just want to see how the entire cycle shakes out for them instead of admitting tons of people in December.
I'm definitely happier to be deferred than WLed.

This. I think it's a much better sign to be deferred, obviously they're interested and want to look at everyone's applications in context. My last update was 11/7, so I suspect I may be joining the ranks soon. At least we're in good company!

Did we ever come to a consensus about what kind of an e-mail to send them?

When I'm in your shoes next week, I'm going to send a short and cordial email basically saying thanks for not rejecting me and to expect an update of my transcript and another LOR in January.Crowing wrote:Did we ever come to a consensus about what kind of an e-mail to send them?

Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
this seems like a decent plan. except ive been out of school so im not exactly going to have new transcripts or anything. I think im going to send one short email now and then let the chips fall where they may.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:When I'm in your shoes next week, I'm going to send a short and cordial email basically saying thanks for not rejecting me and to expect an update of my transcript and another LOR in January.Crowing wrote:Did we ever come to a consensus about what kind of an e-mail to send them?

Deferred as well.
I was planning on touring next week and I am still going to. I know at some schools this can be viewed favorably by admissions, any one know specifically if this is the case at Cornell?

Probably. It seems like they're REALLY insecure about the whole Ithaca being a frozen hellscape thing.thatjuanguy wrote:Deferred as well.

In my "Why Cornell," three sentences I was like, "after four years in South Florida, I think I'm ready for a cold climate like Ithaca's."alwayssunnyinfl wrote:Probably. It seems like they're REALLY insecure about the whole Ithaca being a frozen hellscape thing.thatjuanguy wrote:Deferred as well.

Thanks for the support!
I'm def. going to work on getting in a good LOCI, an updated resume, and possibly another LOR.
No longer in UG, Sunny - so no future grades.
Good luck, everybody!

Anyone know how these deferrals have translated into decisions in previous years? Better than a WL, I'm assuming, but I dunno.

is being deferred to RD essentially the same as someone with your stats submitting in january?
