context: initially wasn't planning to apply to duke because of my strong regional preference for the northeast (family is there), but came to feel really positive about the school after doing a little research/my limited interaction with them. mordecai would make this awesome of course!

hope everyone is having a good weekend and big thank you in advance. happy to answer any preguntas if you are interested in deets.
Do you mind sharing your stats/what you think got you invited to the Mordecai?

my stats are on the okay side of strong, 25th-75th percentile gpa and >75th percentile lsat for duke. no crazy softs--a year of w/e that will be 2 by the time i start school in the fall. had some campus leadership positions in school. went to a good school, not hyps.

honestly i don't really know what made the difference, i know people with higher numbers who have not gotten an invite so far. possibly the work experience/"leadership potential" thing has been the kicker, or my profs really went to bat for me. dunno though. gl!

Checking in. Application sent 12/07, RfR 12/10. How important is a "Why Duke"? My initial thought was that anything I write would be fairly generic and they had a question in the app that let me tell them my sister was at another part of the school. But, reading some of these posts worries me a little.

I'd say that unless your numbers are pretty low or pretty high for Duke don't worry about submitting. I had a slightly below median LSAT and above 75th gpa and got in without writing one. If my LSAT had been above 75th I might have gotten YP's without a why duke though.

Seems like very few Mordecai interview requests have gone out so far, no?

Think they're waiting for December scores to come in? That could change who they want to target with the Mordecais.

I'm not a PT-er, and I'm finally seeing some movement. Send in early November. UR1 11/12. UR2 today. Good luck all!

Accepted today (PT), with a 170, 3.8X. No why Duke and absolutely unremarkable softs. Looks like their sticking pretty close to the medians and YP anyone who is more around the 75% of both numbers.

Dang got waitlisted. 172, 3.8 thought I would get in outright. Must have hated my PS or something.

Did you write a "Why Duke"? I have similar numbers and am suddenly much more nervous about this application than I was 5 seconds ago...

Edit: And I have not written any additional essays.

Haha sorry didn't intend to cause anyone concern. I included a section in my PS about why I was interested in Duke, but I did not write a separate "Why Duke?" essay.
