Yeah I kind of agree. Annoying. I wish I hadn't paid to apply.freaknroll wrote:Fellow 1/3 updater here. If i had to guess I'd say that we've been waitlisted. Most of our numbers arent super steller for BU. Praying that I'm wrong.

woah there! let's not jump to conclusions just yet, maybe they're just notifying the 12/21 people first and then they'll let us 1/3 people know a few days later?snehpets wrote:Yeah I kind of agree. I really hope you are right. Although in my case it wouldn't be an example of YP. If I'm not mistaken most of the people who have been accepted thus far have submitted early novemberish so perhaps that 12/21 update was the final update for them while the 1/3 would be the final update for us.snehpets wrote:woah there! let's not jump to conclusions just yet, maybe they're just notifying the 12/21 people first and then they'll let us 1/3 people know a few days later?

You may be right, but i was really hoping BU would wait for my December LSAT score before WL or dinging me. If it is a WL and my score improves then I will hate LSAC that much more for making us wait 30+ days for score release.freaknroll wrote:Fellow 1/3 updater here. Yield Protection. Schools sometimes waitlist applicants they think will probably end up going somewhere else because it hurts their statistics if they accept them and they choose another school. If you're a YP waitlist you can often get off the waitlist by telling a school you're committed to attending.cstan wrote:sorry but what is YP?

Exactly.... this is a horrible scenario. What if you go up, and therefore get waitlisted by BU, but it's too late in the game to have a shot at other schools? I'm furious with LSAC
As for the idea of 1/3 not have stellar numbers... I'm at 3.68/ 167.... i felt like that would be a really good shot for BU?
Problem is I didn't go fully complete til 12/1. Last update for me is 1/3... would be really disappointed for it to be bad news

Re: Boston University c/o 2015 Applicants
I feel like this is actually a good sign for the 1/3 group, if you can even assign meaning to the date groups at all. You're a little below GPA median but at 75th for LSAT, so you're not too low that you would by any means be an auto waitlist, but you're also not like a 180/4.0 that would probably be YP'd. things are looking up! haha. hope you get your score soon!sandiego222 wrote:aaramil wrote:You may be right, but i was really hoping BU would wait for my December LSAT score before WL or dinging me. Don't think I have a chance but I'm still stuck on 11/9. Same thing for a couple of other schools. Just wish they would reject me already.

Honestly, it's a little aggravating seeing people make conclusions without any evidence (didn't the LSAT train this out of you?
)
Seriously though. What makes anyone say that the 1/3 people have been waitlisted??? The 12/23 people didn't get their acceptance until 1/3. Maybe the 1/3 people will get some sort of decision, and maybe it could be any type of decision, in the coming days. WHY THE WAITLIST?? I don't get where people are pulling that from

Haha, there's just nothing to do in these threads but speculate really. I think it started when people were noticing that a lot of lower number people were in a 1/3 group. They predicted a waitlist for themselves, which isn't totally unreasonable, especially if you add in the few people above both 75ths also in 1/3. Obviously it means nothing and this sample size is tiny, but gotta pass the time somehowsandiego222 wrote:Honestly, it's a little aggravating seeing people make conclusions without any evidence (didn't the LSAT train this out of you?)

Maybe you 1/3 people are all getting full scholarships or something and that's why your decisions are going out separately.

doubtful, i would say the fact that we applied later is the most likely reasonunitedfrutopia wrote:Maybe you 1/3 people are all getting full scholarships or something and that's why your decisions are going out separately.

I completed again at 1/4/2012
wtf?
Anyways, I know I'm getting dinged here. Messed up PS bad + borderline numbers.
And if only the LSAT were actually applicable to real life. I'd be better than 93% of the world. The thing is that it isn't and we can guess pretty well what the results will be. I can anyways.

There is some reasonign for WL beliefs though (especially people still on 12/21). Boston only gives out admits until like March I believe... So when you have borderline numbers / people who applied after you're getting in you start to become more and more likely to be part of that March group the more time that passessandiego222 wrote:Honestly, it's a little aggravating seeing people make conclusions without any evidence (didn't the LSAT train this out of you?)
