Wayyyyyyyy to early to do that now. Wait until you are WL'd to send out a LOCI. They know you are still interested if they haven't given you a decision yet.

(or wait, did you already get WL? If so...)

Generally, I think people wait till they get WL'd, then send in a LOCI with an additional LOR to try and move themselves into first off the WL. If you get a really early WL, I would probably still wait to send out till Jan 1st, because they aren't going to generally take people off the WL until they get a better idea of how their class is shaping up.

I keep saying it, but once other schools get rolling, UVA will adjust accordingly. Hang tight till post-Christmas. I bet a bunch of people get in Jan.

Yeah, I figured as much. I am already WL'd which is why I was asking. I saw someone say they sent in LOCI's every two weeks, which to me seems rather annoying. I figured I would wait until February-ish when they knew approximately how many seats they might still have open before sending LOCI. I figured some of you TLS'ers might have better insight and I'm glad that you of all people seem to think along the same lines as far as timeline.

Thank you.

Well that's good. I'd go with January after they return. And then again in mid-March. Just because, alot of the schools ranked above them will be doing their first round of admits now-Christmas, with Chicago being the latest around the 2nd week of Jan. I would assume a good number of the HYS admits will drop off the radar. Then again you'll have people dropping off in March as Rubensteins, Darrows, and other big scholarships at peer/slightly higher ranked schools are handed out and are bigger than what UVa has offered to some of the same people, who will again then drop off.

Letter Of Continued Interest. You don't need to worry about them until/unless schools start wait-listing you. An LOCI is a way of telling a school that you are still interested in attending.

My guess is that he/she ED'd, and since UVA guarantees a decision within 15 days, hence his cause for worry.

The EDs thus far have seemed to arrive within a few days time, and several ED offers have been extended to candidates who applied after you. I'm guessing WL, but sending you positive vibez

Wow, last year when I applied that was a shoe in! Splitters and Reverse splitters beware! the failproof system seems to have vanished.

I applied on 9/3 +/- one day and haven't heard anything. Expecting a WL at this point. Such is life.

Given your numbers I doubt a waitlist. I think you'd be in.

Thought so too, but that was before I took a look at LSN and heard all this talk about UVA's tendency toward YP. I didn't write a Why UVA or do much other than submit a standard application. I know that a few people have gotten in without a Why essay, but I figured that I would have heard at this point if I were going to be included in that group.

I applied 9/3 and don’t know anything. I’d love to hear before Thanksgiving and I think it’s a possibility, but who knows?

Goodness gracious. UVA seems to be holding the applications of almost everyone who didn't apply ED. Maybe they'll be true to their word and let most RD applicants know in January then??

Quite a few RD applicants have been accepted (though I think all with scholarships).

Seems like a lot of the "lower" T-14 (looking at you Duke) have been doing some weird, unexpected things during the early-going of the admissions cycle

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
