In unrelated news, here's something in which you all might be interested. I set a Google Voice Lite account with my phone number. Basically it transfers your voicemail to Google. That way you can do things like set up different messages for different people or groups. The main reason I wanted it now is that you can check your voicemail on any computer via your google account AND it will email you when you get a voicemail with its best transcription of the message. So if you, like me, need to be away from your phone for 9 days starting Tuesday (or if you, like me, are more likely to check your email than your voicemail), you might want to set it up.

It comes out of nowhere like a lightning bolt on a sunny day, first you are frozen, some people are unable to answer the phone when they see that area code, they keep the message on their phone and sleep with it at night replaying it ova and ova, others who do answer, go into orgasmic convulsions and end up exhausted on the floor like a quivering bowl of jello, it's a mess. If you are out and about, you usually have to take a taxi home because you end up like when you're at the eye doctor and they put those drops in your eyes....you literally can't see from the endorphin ova load.

Pro tip carry cash.

My vote is for November 21st too. It seems like the KB1s are not as spaced out as last year's, so I think they may be aiming for the same date as 2010 (Monday before Thanksgiving.) I may also be foolishly optimistic.

If this is representative (which we have no way to know), then there is really only 2 things that could be going on:

1) The numbers are going to change slightly this year possibly due to low apps

or

2) They have a different strategy for the interviews this year. The year that so many didn't get in, was that the other year that KB ran things as an interim? Maybe she has a different approach to the whole thing? (hopefully its #1)

Because look at last year's sample of people with early interviews. Compare it to this year...and just reading through last year's thread, it really seemed like most of the people who got them were above both medians or URM:

I think it's #1. This is the second year that applications have seen a significant drop. JR was the head of Admissions in 2009, not KB. So I doubt it's a change in strategy.
