Thanks for the congrats! I got the call Friday and the admit packet today, which is pretty quick considering how far from MN I live. Good luck, Jen - I have a feeling that you're going to get a good offer from them.

Thanks!! I really hope so. I am very debt adverse, so money is going to account for about 70% of my decision, if not more. It's such a let down everyday I check my mailbox and it's empty.snapdragon wrote:Thanks for the congrats! Oh my...
Status went IR 1/21--> 1/28 today. I can only begin to speculate on the permutations of possible outcomes

Damn you! IR still at 1/21! Hope you get a (positive) decision soon. The cycle wears on you.fakemoney wrote:Oh my...

I doubt this means we're getting a decision today. Why would they bother updating your IR date if they were about to send a decision? Hopefully, it at least means we're getting closer. But who really knows anyway?

Both of you that are above 3.0 and at 167 are probably in, I'd bet on it.

Re: Minnesota 2011
Got a call on Tuesday while I was working (almost had a heart-attack when they told me- which isn't good cause I'm overweight
-although working on that ).
App received in late December, ready for review in early January. I can't figure out how to tell when it went under review.
170 LSAT and WAYYYYY below 25th GPA (not sure what the 25th is, but I'm way below the 25th to any school I applied to). Not sure what URM means so can't comment as to whether I am one or not.
CA resident, currently in college in West PA, never been to Minnesota, but am very excited to visit.
I guess they decided to take a chance on me

Same. I really like GW, but there is just no way I can justify sticker for there ITE. Any five-figure per year amount from UMN would probably make me come, barring a T14 acceptance.JenDarby wrote:Thanks!! I really hope so. Re: Minnesota 2011
big problem here. JUST GOT THE PACKAGE..$25k/YR scholarship which will make this school $140K less than gulc over the course of 3 years! But, my parents are paying no matter where I go. I will be debt free no matter where I go. Still, I feel badly having them pay so much more for gulc. But, MN is freezing and I'm sick of cold weather and I don't want to settle in the midwest. And, GULC is ranked higher. But, I feel badly that my parents are working so hard to pay for school.
Going to MN would be so much easier for them. Will my job prospects be much better coming out of GULC than Minnesota?

The fact that your parents are paying changes everything. Unless your parents are selling their organs/mortgaging their house/dealing drugs to get the money, I'm assuming they're pretty wealthy. Respectfully, count your blessings and go to GULC. If you feel guilty, take out a $20k federal loan to partially cover costsmasterthearts wrote:big problem here. Re: Minnesota 2011
Congrats man! If I can swing at least $10k/yr from MN, that, plus lower COL would make me go there over GW. Minneapolis is awesome. UR 1/21 and the wait is killing me.boozehound wrote:+1....and I'm amazed/ecstatic they gave me a scholarship!! Re: Minnesota 2011
You can always take their payment as an interest free loan, and pay them back after law school...thus paying for your own education, and going to the school of your choice. You have a lot of reasonable options.masterthearts wrote:big problem here. JUST GOT THE PACKAGE..$25k/YR scholarship which will make this school $140K less than gulc over the course of 3 years! No, my parents are not doing any of the above. However, they are living frugrally, skipping vacations. Maybe I will go to gulc and send them on a big vacation when i graduate..PomasThynchon wrote:The fact that your parents are paying changes everything. What do I do?
I guess you are saying that my job prospects will be much better coming out of gulc?
But, my lsat is below the 25th percentile for gulc, so I wonder if gulc will be more of a struggle, and whether it will be tougher to get top grades there (compared to MN).
Does lsat score correlate with grades in law school? My gpa is high if that means anything.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
