Yes, but the stipend would cover only $12,000 of COL expenses.HeavenWood wrote:Didn't you already get a full ride + stipend?kk19131 wrote:I'm thinking about emailing and asking for more money... but I don't want to sound like an ass by doing so.

I guess it sounds kind of greedy, but...

It's extremely greedy, but then again, there's no harm in asking.kk19131 wrote:Yes, but the stipend would cover only $12,000 of COL expenses.HeavenWood wrote:Didn't you already get a full ride + stipend?kk19131 wrote:I'm thinking about emailing and asking for more money... but I don't want to sound like an ass by doing so.

One of the ladies sent it to the committee for review and they asked for scholarship info from other schools and any other info I would like them to have. Will keep this board updated.rs2004 wrote:i called the office last week to ask them about more money and they said they have no more funding left and wouldn't be able to give more money til after first deposits. let us know what they tell you dreakol.dreakol wrote:I sent them an email asking for them to reconsider my 14k scholarship,kk19131 wrote:I'm thinking about emailing and asking for more money... but I don't want to sound like an ass by doing so.

I just emailed them asking them if they could add something to my file but forgot to attach it. MASSIVE FAIL
Sent them the email again after I realized I didn't attach what I wanted to send but I'm afraid they'll think I'm an idiot now

Idiot. If you can't live on 12K in Pittsburgh, you're functionally retarded.kk19131 wrote:Yes, but the stipend would cover only $12,000 of COL expenses.HeavenWood wrote:Didn't you already get a full ride + stipend?kk19131 wrote:I'm thinking about emailing and asking for more money... but I don't want to sound like an ass by doing so.

12k over 9 months comes to ~$350 a week. If you share a 2 bedroom, you could probably save a lot of that money.lawschoolnonsense wrote:Idiot. How about we get back more on topic. For example, has anyone been accepted, etc. lately?

that is way harsh. it is pitt's COL that is 15,430, kk didn't pull the number out of thin air. s/he is just trying to make up the difference.lawschoolnonsense wrote:Idiot. I go to UG here, and while I wouldn't use the words "functionally retarded" to describe someone who lives on over 12k for the school year, it's not that hard to do, either. The cost of living here is just that low.rs2004 wrote: that is way harsh. it is pitt's COL that is 15,430, kk didn't pull the number out of thin air. s/he is just trying to make up the difference.

i mean if one can live on 12k for the school year, that is terrific to hear. does that include rent, utilities, food, transportation, etc.?HeavenWood wrote:I go to UG here, and while I wouldn't use the words "functionally retarded" to describe someone who lives on over 12k for the school year, it's not that hard to do, either. If you're willing to do a little legwork (IE, look somewhere off campus), you can easily find a decent-quality 2-bedroom for $800 per month with utilities (or even less, depending on how far you're willing to go).rs2004 wrote:i mean if one can live on 12k for the school year, that is terrific to hear. does that include rent, utilities, food, transportation, etc.?HeavenWood wrote:I go to UG here, and while I wouldn't use the words "functionally retarded" to describe someone who lives on over 12k for the school year, it's not that hard to do, either. I refuse to live in some random Oakland slum. Plus, it's always better to have more money than less.

You'd get much more than an "Oakland slum" (which are actually more expensive due to demand). Did you even look at the links I posted?kk19131 wrote: I refuse to live in some random Oakland slum. Plus, it's always better to have more money than less.

$15,000 a year won't get you a luxury apartment either (not without a few roommates at least). Then again, if you're looking to graduate with as little debt as possible, shouldn't luxury apartments be out of the question? Keep in mind that you can live in a perfectly nice mid-rise or garden apartment and actually save some of your stipend.kk19131 wrote:Yes, I'm looking at them now, thanks.HeavenWood wrote:You'd get much more than an "Oakland slum" (which are actually more expensive due to demand). Re: Pittsburgh 2011
It is very easy to live on 12k a year here including EVERYTHING. Its VERY easy.
I hope this kk guy goes here just so I can meet him haha, mostly because I already have a gunner in one of ur classes that I picture to be exactly like him attitude-wise.
