Stores are either 1 or 1:30, I'm not sure. Bars are 1, except there are some 3 AM bars in the MO side. I don't know if there is even a time on the bars on the East Side, but if there is it has to be after 5 AM.dougfunny wrote:Are you talking at a bar or at a store?TigerChick13 wrote:Actually, no alcohol sales after 1am or so here in MO. Sorry to bust the bubble. Still, we do have lax open container laws.
Also, for smokers: any bar which makes less than 10% of their gross revenue on food, you can smoke inside (so mostly concert venues/ bars with no restaurant). You can also smoke in casinos.
For open containers in cars, you can drink in taxis and such, and when somebody is driving you can have 1 open container for every 21+ person in the car minus the driver. I don't think you can drink on the metro/buses but I never take those so idk.

(Except we have pretty strict open container laws, they just only enforce them during holidays.)

Yeah, par bar is a 3AM bar. About a quarter of bars have permits to keep serving booze until 3 instead of 1.dougfunny wrote: I could have sworn I was at par bar later than 1 drinking but maybe my sense of time was distorted by the booze
Yes. In fact, most of the public events STL puts on like concerts and such are BYOBJay2716 wrote: Is it true you can drink in public parks w/o a permit?

Re: WUSTL c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Just out of curiosity, has anyone heard about someone with 166+ not getting a full ride? I feel like they just handed out full rides to literally half the class. This sounds kind of crazy, but if they're looking to move up in the rankings, you can do that for the top half of the class for about $15 million a year.
They're raised more than $1 billion dollars since last year, and they're shooting for a minimum of $2.2 billion. That's on top of a $5 billion dollar endowment. Granted, these numbers are for the entire University, but it looks like they can afford to buy medians if they feel like it.

I'm thinking I already know the answer to this question, but what do ya'll think the chances are they release a batch of full rides based on GPA rather than LSAT scores?

Ultimately it'll depend on 1. how much money they have left and 2. whether they plan on using all the funds on this cycle.ccb13 wrote:I'm thinking I already know the answer to this question, but what do ya'll think the chances are they release a batch of full rides based on GPA rather than LSAT scores?
I think it's very possible that they'll distribute some scholly bumps. It'll be harder for them to establish a clear cut-off for full-rides like they did with the 166. LSAT scores are relatively neat and tidy, there's no 166.5 or 166.7. Also almost everyone in the pool is gonna be within the 158-171 range. So it's a lot easier to establish and maintain a target median. GPA's by comparison are harder to work with just by nature of the actual numbers (X.XX versus just X) and because there's such a wide range within the admit pool.

Re: WUSTL c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Hi, this is my first time posting on TLS, and I was wondering if anyone is in the same situation as I'm in. So, I'm one of the lucky souls who received a full ride from WUSTL, where I was already deposited. However, within the past week, I also got off the waitlist at another great school (lower end of the T14). This T14 school wants me to pay their deposit NOW, before I will know anything about any financial awards. However, if I do that, I know I would risk losing my admission offer and scholarship from WUSTL (they are clear on the admitted students page that this is the consequence of multiple deposits). So I guess my options are to pay the deposit at the T14 and forfeit the sure-thing I've got at WUSTL, and possibly find out that I have to pay sticker at the T14, or stick with WUSTL, and wonder forever if I might have gotten enough of an award from the T14 to make it viable. Are any other WUSTL people facing a similarly agonizing decision?

Re: WUSTL c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I'm pretty sure your situation is exactly the sort of thing that WUSTL offered up full rides for. That's a tough spot. I would talk to someone in admissions at the T-14 school about your current situation, and let them know that you are extremely hesitant to give up your full ride for an unknown, and see if they'll put money on the table prior to you depositing.Green317 wrote:Hi, this is my first time posting on TLS, and I was wondering if anyone is in the same situation as I'm in. That's tough, I highly doubt given this year's cycle, that they will take away your scholarship/offer, but, it is a threat, as is losing your T14. I'm assuming you'll pick WUSTL full over the T14 @ sticker. If so, I'd take the less risky path, and let the T14 know that you can't double deposit, and that you cant make a commitment without an award (it's really douchey they do that), this would also be a good way to let them know you have a full from WUSTL and you might be able to pry out some more merit aid.
If they expect you to make a commitment without an award, I would expect to not get an award, maybe this will have them consider giving you a decent offer.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
