I'd have to say San Francisco all around, DC in the spring, and Chicago in the summer.

I'm not so far ahead where I would get YP or anything, but at the same time don't want to risk losing scholarship money by coming off as too eager to attend (even tho its my top choice obviously I'm super eager to attend). Or is that just really dumb reasoning? If I don't write a Why X addendum I'll probably put a bit of it in my PS at the end.
I definitely wrote Why X essays for any school I wanted to attend, regardless of where I fell in regards to their numbers. I don't think you'll lose scholarship money if you look over eager - you're just backing up that you're likely to matriculate if they give you an offer, not blanketing for leverage.
Didn't really think about being more likely to matriculate as a plus in terms of money, but I think that's a great point. I'll probably write some Why X essays then. How long were yours?
Matriculation plays into a school's selectivity score for US news, so schools with lower matriculation will suffer in the rankings. That's why it's generally recommended to write a Why for every school but HYS (because they aren't worried about matriculation). They're usually like a page double spaced, just a few paragraphs telling why you think you're a good fit
Cool, thanks so much. I guess I thought about matriculation in terms of YP, but not about giving people large offers to assure they attend. I'll definitely get to writing that there extra essay. I appreciate the help.

As it currently stands, Hilde is a well-meaning warrior for gender-justice who is ultimately arguing for courses of action that will solidify gendered boundaries and ensure the continued domination of one gender over another. While she may not be furthering the ends of those currently benefiting from Male Privilege, her ideology will, at best, result only in a transfer of privilege from one set of citizens to another.
Not really taking a side here, but do you not think that it's possible to have a gendered society that is equal (or equal enough that privilege is indistinguishable)? I follow you that male and female gender constructs are both a creation of the patriarchy and a tool that keeps the patriarchy going, but is it impossible to elevate one of the gender constructs such that they can no longer be used to strengthen the patriarchy (what I think Hil is advocating)?
And who would do this elevating? Or keep the balance in check?

Kant put the problem into words best (although even he was caught in entrenched gendered language):

"The problem of organizing a state, however hard it may seem, can be solved even for a race of devils, if only they are intelligent. The problem is: 'Given a multitude of rational beings requiring universal laws for their preservation, but each of whom is secretly inclined to exempt himself from them, to establish a constitution in such a way that, although their private intentions conflict, they check each other, with the result that their public conduct is the same as if they had no such intentions.'"

We don't have some benevolent power keeping watch over us. And so long as gender is a descriptive tool with an "in group" and "out group," then, human nature being what it is, a struggle for gendered dominance will be forever ongoing. It may be silent and at times imperceptible, but in the long run will result in an entrenched gendered hierarchy. And this is exactly the type of society that Hilde and I both want to end.
