All they get is your resume that you're supposed to them yourself after they contact you.tintin wrote:hopefulundergrad wrote:I'm URM. URM check though, seriously? What are they going to have a race box the interviewer has to check.
thats good to know.
does the interviewer get to read the application? anyone know?

Maybe then they'll think "this person MIGHT get FT, but since he checked both, we'll definitely stick him in PT" Therefore by checking both, you end up in PT where if you hadn't, you might have ended up in FT.
For some people, GULC FT > other school FT > GULC PT

I would rather go to GW or Fordham FT than Georgetown PT. If you don't like it, get better numbers. Otherwise, take advantage of the fact that you weren't immediately tossed in the reject pile and do something to help your chances.

If you had read my posts, I'm annoyed because they interviewed me last cycle, it went really well, I got a really good evaluation and then they rejected me. Why would I want to go through the process again if it had absolutely no impact on their decision last time? If I don't like it get better numbers? I did do that. My numbers were the issue last cycle and I improved them considerably.
While some think Georgetown is a degree mill desperately holding on to its last vestiges of prestige and destined to drop out of the T14, I think it's a great school and would love to spend the next 3yrs there. But, I don't want to be jerked around.

Didn't get an interview before I went to "decision rendered," so either they loved me or hated me (if that report is right).

You know, I'm starting to get mighty peeved over all these decisions that the RD people have been receiving. I need to make it clear that I'm not upset towards those people who applied FT - had I had better numbers, I wouldn't have had to apply PT ED and honestly I'm probably not going to be accepted anyway. My school newspaper experience served me well in my endeavor to craft an excellent PS and DS and my resume is great - but even that and my URM status probably aren't going to be enough.
That's fine. This was a long shot anyway. But I applied ED because if I recall correctly we were supposed to get the benefit of finding out whether we were going to be accepted or rejected before everyone else. That's the whole point of an ED. Now I have to hesitate on other schools while other folks who aplied RD and haven't promised to attend GT are getting decisions. Ridiculous.
Gosh, I'd love an interview right now.

Actually I don't think you're supposed to find out before everyone else. I think GULC only has to inform you by December 15th.billyez wrote:You know, I'm starting to get mighty peeved over all these decisions that the RD people have been receiving. long time lurker, but I just had to join in the discussion in an attempt to stave off the madness.
full-time ED, right at median for both GPA and LSAT... I went complete 11/6 and am still not under review! so I'm (of course) starting to panic.
I'm really looking forward to when I can look back and laugh at the days when status checkers were ruling my life...

Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
You're not being jerked around. That's my point. I read your posts, and I know you got better numbers, and significantly so. But it's not like Georgetown said to you last year "look, improve your GPA by .4, your LSAT by 3 points and we'll let you in next year," and is now flinching on that. They have to evaluate each year's worth of applications separately, regardless of whether or not someone is a reapplicant.hopefulundergrad wrote: Thanks for preaching from your soapbox. I would love to spend the next 3 years there too, I think it's a great school and I love DC. I hope you get in, and I think you can only help your chances with a good interview. I can understand your frustration, but the indignation is, in my opinion, a bit much.

ED here. Just checked tatus and had Under Review 11/18 (today); previously stuck Under Review 10/20. Any similar changes out there?

Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
Continuing to lurk on this thread as a family member is applying Georgetown this cycle. Just thought I would give my 2 cents on this. It is ridiculously easy from what I can tell with my friends who have done it to transfer from PT to FT, you can then graduate in 3 years and no one knows any different. In fact some of the most successful of my current class mates were PT in their 1L year. They probably got a bit of a leg up as it was easier to get a good GPA in the PT program. In the current job market I think Georgetown FT would be a no brainer over GW or Fordham. that is definitely something I wasn't clear on before I came here, so wanted to share.Lady Heather wrote: I would rather go to GW or Fordham FT than Georgetown PT. Same here, RD, under review starting on 10/20, date changed to 11/18. Applied both PT and FT. First round of rejections went out on 11/28 last year, this is close to that date so it could go either waygeneral100 wrote:+1, but I'm RDwootwootdc wrote:ED here.
