I think you are probably right. According to last years thread people started hearing back in the begining of March. So from what I've gathered, if selected for an interview, you are informed via snail mail. Anybody know if that is right? Or anything else about the
process?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So my status checker went from Held for further review to Application Complete on 2/25/2010. What does that mean. I didnt recieved a call so i'm assuming its bad news but why not say decision rendered or something like that,why go back to app complete. I'm so confuse.

Any thoughts? Plz guys im a nervous wreck over here.Bustang did your status changed at all?

Looks like HS finalists received a letter around Saturday March 7, then a phone call.

I'm into the FT/PT pool . My numbers now look good for an acceptance either way, so I'm super excited.

I attended one of SMU's evening seminars for prospective applicants, and they specifically mentioned that they are annoyed when people change their FT / PT preference, especially after an offer has been made.

If you must change your preference, make an effort to contact them before they've rendered a decision.

My status checker says application completed 1/8. Should I call and see what's the hold up or just wait it out?

I wasn't even "complete". Believe me, my change was WELL before an offer was made .

Does anyone know how long it should take for "application received" to switch to "application completed" on the online status checker?

Mine was received on 1/15 and didn't go complete until 2/3. There was nothing missing or added after the 15th, it just takes a while. When I get impatient I just remind myself that it is a crazy time of year for the people in the admissions office.

My app finally shows complete as of today 3/1. I talked to Maggie, who told me that it was my second LOR which was holding it up. LSAC had marked it as received 2/18, but apparently they just forwarded it to SMU today?

I'm in a similar situation. I originally asked to be considered for both FT (preference) and PT. I went Complete on 2/3 and haven't heard anything. Now that I've had time to think about it harder I actually prefer the PT to FT and think I have a much more realistic shot getting into the PT with my numbers. Is it too late to send the committee a letter mentioning my preference for the PT now or should I just let it all play out?

If you PREFER PT, then I would let them know.
If they ended up giving you FT, but you WANTED PT, that would stink.

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and sent an email to the admissions committee letting them know my preference for PT. I probably wouldn't have gotten in the FT program, but I really do prefer the PT program regardless. I like spreading everything out over four years which would give me the opportunity to work during the year to help pay for tuition.

The application is transmitted electronically, so I don't understand why they won't accept electronic LOR, too. I didn't know that, thanks for the information. Now my situation is understandable--it was a mail delivery delay.

It might be because they use the LORs for (outside) scholarship consideration and need to send hard copies? Just a blind guess...

What are my chances? Anybody else heard from SMU for PT yet? If so, how did they let you know?

Accepted for PT. Got the phone call end of January. Got the $$ info 2 weeks later. Not sure about your chances, as SMU PT values work experience more than strictly numbers. Some low LSATs have been accepted to PT (read LSN). I'm above 75% LSAT and below 25% GPA for the PT program, and I was accepted, so you'll have a shot. Good luck.

I'll be attending the May 20th PT Admitted Student Dinner. Let me know if any others will make it to that one. I wish I could go this month, but I can't make it.

Also, I'm sure it'll happen in the coming months, but we should get some discussion going on housing options, etc. I saw an efficiency on campus runs about $600+ including water, gas, and electric. Finding a roommate and getting a 2BR could be even cheaper. I was expecting a much higher COL, but no complaints here.

There are quite a few older (like 60+years old) apartment houses right next to the campus. Those are going to be the more affordable options. There are also a bunch of nicer apartments/condos around, but those can get super expensive. The part of Dallas where SMU is located is like the Beverly Hills of Texas.
