Yea I noticed that the school looked old when I visited in October. I think the better looking parts of the school were the court room, library, and the study area upstairs. I think that area was all painted white. I went on a Friday at noon and the school was empty. It was weird.GorillaWarfare wrote:Random question, but did anyone else notice how crappy the facilities are for the law school?
There was one hall that was recently constructed and very modern but aside from that and the library, I found the law school to be very underwhelming. Everything looked like ti was built in the 70s and hasn't been updated since. Not a huge reason to go/not go, but it did stand out to me.

24k in scholly! More than I was expecting and now they're officially beating Vanderbilt for me. Planning on asking for reconsideration but not really expecting a lot, hopefully I'll get a little more in grants from the state since I'm one of the poors.

How does Texas notify applicants that a decision has been made? Is it a phone call for admit and an email for reject?

the only other law school i've seen was CLS (and that was years ago), but I remember the buildings and rooms looking pretty nice. I wonder if they have any plans to upgrade their facilities. I hear $10 mil is going into redoing the football lockers & gym, would be nice if UT could find some of that money to modernize the law schoolTorres1893 wrote:Yea I noticed that the school looked old when I visited in October. Does the status checker ever read anything other than..
"Your Texas Law application file is complete and ready for review as long as we have received your CAS report."
before a decision is made?

The UT Athletic program brings in over $40 Million a year via donors...guessing the Law Program isn't quite there, yet.GorillaWarfare wrote:the only other law school i've seen was CLS (and that was years ago), but I remember the buildings and rooms looking pretty nice. Yeah, this is dumb. Money being pledged to athletics has no bearing on the law school. That money was pledged to athletics, and more specifically, football, so that's where it will end up.GorillaWarfare wrote:the only other law school i've seen was CLS (and that was years ago), but I remember the buildings and rooms looking pretty nice. Got my scholarship email today, and it was $5,000 a year, which is lower than I hoped but what I expected. I was going to attend regardless so this doesn't change anything for me!

Given how UT keeps up with its facilities, it could be way worse. I had a basement class off the main quad in my undergrad that would flood the back of the class every time it rained. The professor would just shrug and say "that's another reason to sit close to the front."Tazewell wrote:Yeah, this is dumb. Money being pledged to athletics has no bearing on the law school.
