Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Sorry I've been so scarce around these fora of late. (Finally back in 'Murica for good!) Congrats to everyone who received acceptances and ridiculous scholarship packages over the last two weeks! It looks like it's going to be a badass group this next fall.
When are the mods going to start the class of 2020 forum?? We need to get a UVA thread up.

Has anyone heard from admissions on decisions this week? Is it safe to assume that at this point in the week/day, a pre-Thanksgiving decision isn't looking likely?

When I interviewed with Dean Faulk last week, he mentioned that he committee was working through applications before it broke for the Thanksgiving holiday this week.aiwl wrote:Has anyone heard from admissions on decisions this week? I'd anticipate hearing back after the holiday. Good luck!

I heard back within the first few days ... no answers from the ~11 other schools I applied to since, it's been 2.5 months. I can see the drought continuing until January already. UVA set my expectations way too high.MAPP wrote:Life would be so much easier if everyone was as fast as UVA...

Got my package on Monday at like 9PM via UPS - 60k scholarship! Hoping I can negotiate that up a little bit, but still thrilled

If I apply this week do you think my timing would impact any chance of scholarships or lower the amount offered? I'm at median LSAT but 25-50 GPA

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I remember people saying before that generally speaking, applying any time before Thanksgiving is considered early. Based on that sentiment, I don't think it'll impact your chances of scholarships. I mean, if you think about it, they probably still have a lot of money to go around because a lot of people are probably still applying. You have to remember that it seems like TLS is full of more "overachievers" (for a lack of better word right now) than the actual applicant pool.Keilz wrote:If I apply this week do you think my timing would impact any chance of scholarships or lower the amount offered? As opposed to submitting later? Unless your app still needs considerable polishing, I feel like at this point, the sooner the better. Just turned mine in yesterday.Keilz wrote:If I apply this week do you think my timing would impact any chance of scholarships or lower the amount offered? I'm at median LSAT but 25-50 GPA

As opposed to submitting it earlier. I'm finishing up my why UVA which I know is critical lolLeliana wrote:As opposed to submitting later? I meant "submitting this week vs. submitting later" - since it's not like you can travel back in time and submit it earlier than nowKeilz wrote:As opposed to submitting it earlier. I can't imagine that submitting sooner rather than later could substantially lower the amount of $$ you might be offered... if anything it might give you a better shot, like others have said. Finish up that why UVA!

Thanks! This potentially really changes my calculus. I've been dreaming of HYS (obviously haven't heard anything yet; knock on wood), but I really like UVA and the Dillard makes it a super compelling option.SweetTort wrote:OOOOOH SHIT FAM!!!! I think I'm gonna commit. Gonna withdraw from every school but H/S. Then maybe do a seat deposit b4 Christmas.

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
So I asked this earlier but it didn't really get any traction: with people getting scholarships of all ranges in the mail now with their admissions packets, should those of us who got the packet and nothing else pretty much assume we're gonna be asked to pay sticker? I love UVA, but that's just not happening.
50%>GPA>25 %
LSAT>75%
And Va resident for what it's worth.

You're in a dope spot. Don't assume anything. Just withdrew from every school but Harvard (for bragging rights). Drank some liquor for confidence. About to submit my seat deposit.
