Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
Any one else been under review since early november still not heard anything?
mylsn gives me a near 100% chance of getting and and NYU is one of my really top choices but nothing...I'm starting to get nervous
I just went through my application and noticed that I couldn't find a section with an lsat score...was there one and maybe I missed it?
Sorry if I'm just being paranoid

I applied for a scholarship; will the admissions staff review those essays too or are they saved for after you've been accepted and passed to the scholarship committee?kkdk wrote:1L RTK scholar here. We are involved in the selection process starting next semester. From what I can tell, unless you indicate that you wanted your statement or a specific LOR to be used for the scholly selection process, we won't think much of a ticked box. So in all likelihood, we'll see the box, notice there is no attached essay or letter, and just pass on the application. Also remember, to be considered for RTK, you HAVE to be admitted first, which means if we get your application, you already got in and admission won't be revoked for a clerical error on your part. Be calm, everything will be okaypsychmusic wrote:Could you maybe act as if you still intended to apply when you submitted the app, but only realized afterwards that the recommendation wouldn't be in in time?waterandparchedearth wrote:Having a very slight panic attack because I just realized there is an error in my application. On my application form, I have it checked off that I want to apply for Root-Tilden-Kern, Jacobson and D'Agostino. However, due to my recommender being out of the country, I wasn't able to get a letter on time and decided not to apply. I thought I un-checked those boxes on the form but clearly I didn't, and no application essay for those programs is attached. Should I call and clarify? Is that just bringing the error more to their attention? I just really don't want it to negatively impact my odds.
ETA: NYU is my first choice, so it's extremely important. I re-checked the application a hundred times for typos, but of course this slips by.

In principle, the admissions staff can view and include them in your evaluation, just as the scholarship committee can review your full application including lsat and personal statement.
Whether or not admissions people read your scholarship essay probably depends on reviewer and mood.
Edit: one admissions person I asked this question to said they personally did.

Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
I too got an acceptance call today. RD applicant, went complete 12/19. Stats: 3.5x GPA, 17x LSAT. PM me for exact stats.
While I appreciate the quick notification, I would also have liked an email just to prove I wasn't dreaming. As it was I made the poor NYU dean repeat herself just so I could be sure.
My status checker just says " Decision letter sent". I hope I wasn't dreaming.

What is NYU's problem with me? 3.6/174, applied mid-November. No movement since 11/25.
Last year I was in the absolute last wave of W/Ls with the people who applied three months after me.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do you know when you go UR2? Is it just a date change, or does it actually say Under Review 2. Just want to be sure I didn't miss an initial date change...Skool wrote:Complete/UR1 Mid December

It's just date changes. If you check your status checker regularly (or neurotically), you'll notice the dates shifting.Dipper wrote:This is probably a dumb question, but how do you know when you go UR2? Re: NYU c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015)
I believe it's just a date change. I could only recognize the change because I check pretty regularly.
For the record, I'm a little hazy about the UR1/UR2 distinction. The day after I went complete I went UR. There have been two date changes with Under Review, so I've listed the second as UR2. Makes sense to me, that's how other people are doing it too, no?

For me, I just went submit -> UR1 (no complete) -> UR2 -> DLS. But I think some others had the same process as you with three date changes (Tr3 did, IIRC).Skool wrote:I believe it's just a date change. I could only recognize the change because I check pretty regularly.

Yup, I did! I had two quick UR dates (day I submitted and next day) then another UR about three weeks later, then a couple weeks --> DLS.lc39 wrote:For me, I just went submit -> UR1 (no complete) -> UR2 -> DLS. Has anyone else looked into why NYU's ASW on the home page is April 10-11th but then when you go to RSVP it is April 16-17th?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
