Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Does anyone know anything about the Mordecai interview? Is it separate/in addition to the general scholarship interview (now that it can be done via skype)? Couldn't find much info in old threads..

Has anyone done the general scholarship interview yet? Or do they start this upcoming week?

Interview was pretty short and simple, a few YP questions about why duke and info about their scholarship process. They said scholarships will go out by mail in late jan. in order of interviews.

Does that mean if we didnt get an interview invite, we aren't being considered for scholarship? I'm at LSAT Median and way above GPA 75th. I was hoping for some money, especially when looking at LSN and seeing offers I've already received from better schools. Duke is probably my #1 choice (if the money is right).Mack.Hambleton wrote:Interview was pretty short and simple, a few YP questions about why duke and info about their scholarship process. I did email them over break asking why I had not received an interview invite based on the initial email which said I would. I havent received a response yet.

September. In fact, I was "provisionally accepted" until they sent out the updated email saying they arent "provisionally accepting" any more. I turned in my scholarship form right when I received it in mid-October and received an email saying Duke had received the form.Mack.Hambleton wrote:well you should get some money with those numbers. when were you admitted?smile0751 wrote:Does that mean if we didnt get an interview invite, we aren't being considered for scholarship? What is the point of YP questions if they have already accepted you? They don't want to make scholarship offers to people who won't come because it will tie up their money?Mack.Hambleton wrote:Interview was pretty short and simple, a few YP questions about why duke and info about their scholarship process. I'm in a similar position, way above one 75th and above the other median, accepted early september, sent in the scholarship form in October (received their confirmation email), and I haven't heard a thing. I thought about contacting them, but I haven't.smile0751 wrote:September. I think that's it. It's a way for them to gauge interest in Duke.hill1334 wrote:What is the point of YP questions if they have already accepted you? has anyone who was accepted in early September gotten the scholarship interview? I don't want to be presumptuous but there are a lot of us and it kinda seems like an oversight

This seems weird though. Lowballing people they've already admitted does nothing except hurt their yield. It would make sense as a YP tactic prior to acceptance.pylon wrote:I think that's it. But they only have a finite amount of money to give out so I think they want to prioritize people who are actually interestedlc39 wrote:This seems weird though. It could also just be an easy question to ask. If a person cant respond to a question like "Why Law" or "Why X School," then how are they going to do in firm interviews?
That being said, I dont understand this post-acceptance interview thing. The effort doesnt seem to equal the reward for admissions.

What did you wear? I'm thinking of going pretty casual as it's not an admission interview.Mack.Hambleton wrote:Interview was pretty short and simple, a few YP questions about why duke and info about their scholarship process.
