So just to make sure, TCR for what to expect during a js1 is just the standard why law, why harvard, and a lot of resume specific questions? is there any other questions i should prep for? for those who have done a chicago interview and a JS1, how would you say the two compare in terms of structure?

Didn't get why law or why HLS in mine, although I worked in elements of those into my answers to related questions, unclear if that helped or not.

Sorry. Everyone w a 169 AND high GPA. Only a handful of non URMs are admitted, and yet if you browse through lsn, seems like almost all who report this stuff got interviews.

But isn't it that once you get a JS1, even people with a 169 stand as good a chance as any others in getting a JS2? (I don't have 169 btw.) Otherwise, why give JS1? I'm just curious!

curious as well. don't numbers only matter till you get JS1 and don't after JS1? It seems the adcom does not go back to looking at the overall application after interview to make a decision, and make a decision based on the interview. i know this is what their b-school does. the application only matters till you get the interview and after that it's only one's performance on the interview that makes the difference between ding and accept.

That might make sense. All I know is Chicago interviewed people knowing full well all would go on waitlist. I'd love it if you are correct.

No, my impression is that the interview is just one more factor they consider when looking at the overall applicant.

i found the js1 lent itself to concise, direct responses whereas the chicago interview was more abstract. I think you can expect more resume specific q's from H -- that was, at least, the case in my experience.

fwiw, i also found the js1 more conversational than interview-y

Truth. We can clearly see from past data that a 168 and a 180 who both have interviews clearly do not have the same chance of getting in after a JS1

I wouldn't be surprised if they took next week off for Thanksgiving/finalizing decisions for Thanksgiving admits. (One can dream.) If they were to take next week 'off,' they likely would not send a JS1 wave this week. (Or so I'd assume.)

Well there were already JS1 spots up to the 25th. Or so I remember.

The same "it's still early on, we'll be making decisions soon so you'll hear from us" as other people have mentioned. I don't think it's an indicator of acceptance or rejection - they are going to talk to you (on phone or via email) soon regardless.

Interview was very comfortable and I enjoyed it. My interviewer had taken time to read my resume & PS and asked targeted questions. Somewhat conversational, as others have mentioned.

meeeeee too. i'm 169/3.73 - so below the 25th percentile - but have highly unique softs that are specifically linked to harvard programs, and it's absolutely my dream program. sigh.

Just had my JS1. The interviewer was incredibly nice and conversational. I could tell that she had read my resume and application because she referenced both of them with her questions. She also tossed in a few Why law? what kind of law? questions but she tied them in perfectly with her previous questions. She also answered all of my questions fully. Overall, it was a great experience.
