Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Question: I was contacted by a current 3L (the same who had contacted me about my fee waiver) a few days after I had submitted my application about having an interview over skype. It was held on 11/30/13, and since then my application status still reads "incomplete". Is it about time I contact Northwestern about what's going on, as I also haven't heard anything about log in information for the interview portal in case this was a separate event, or have others also experienced a large delay between interview and an update on their status checker?

That seems like a reasonable thing to email them about (though don't expect an answer for a few days, due to weather).Tariffs wrote:Question: I was contacted by a current 3L (the same who had contacted me about my fee waiver) a few days after I had submitted my application about having an interview over skype. Mine was with a current student and got on famously. Not unprofessional, but it couldn't have gone better. Been waiting around a long time now though. Starting to second guess to whether or not it may have been too laid back.BentleyLittle wrote:Question for those that have interviewed on-campus-- who from the committee did you interview with and was it as intense as some have described?

It looks like someone sorted the LSAT column from low to high without sorting the rest of the data. My info (ED Acceptance) is in the chart and is no longer accurate. I think the mean was 170 or so before it was messed up.ManoftheHour wrote:Dafuq. The mean LSAT of the accept so far is 165?!

Does anyone have an opinion on the value of an on-campus vs. off-campus interview? Ideally I would like to interview on-campus however the cost of travel and my current work schedule may persuade me to request an off-campus interview if there isn't a presumed advantage to interviewing on-campus.
(I'm sorry if this was already discussed. I wasn't able to find an answer earlier ITT)

For myself, personally, having interviewed off campus last cycle (and getting rejected) and having interviewed on campus this time around (and feeling pretty confident in my application), I would recommend the on campus interview if possible.VulturGryphus wrote:Does anyone have an opinion on the value of an on-campus vs. off-campus interview? Also when I interviewed with Vanderbilt, my interviewer stressed that it was better to meet directly with someone from admissions rather than an alumni.
This is, of course, just my own personal experience

There may be a tiny advantage to interviewing on campus, but I'm guessing the luck of the draw on who you get is more important.VulturGryphus wrote:Does anyone have an opinion on the value of an on-campus vs. off-campus interview? If you're going to be in Chicago anyways at some point, I would try to schedule an on-campus interview. But I wouldn't make a special trip for it.

I fixed the spreadsheet. The mean is actually 171 for accepted applicants.Serett wrote:+1, was 170 as of 2014Mullens wrote:It looks like someone sorted the LSAT column from low to high without sorting the rest of the data. Please be careful when sorting! Right now it is sorted by LSAT (from low to high) and then by GPA (from low to high).

I applied in mid-November and didn't get my notice/match for about a month. Considering the holiday closures and the recent weather, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes them another few weeks.angels2fly wrote:bad if i submitted 12/19 and still no notice of interview?whereskyle wrote:Yep, I received notification by e-mail with instructions as to picking a date and time shortly after submitting app (in September.)angels2fly wrote:Other than filling out on the application itself that you would like an off-campus interview there is nothing else to complete correct? Or better, just don't sort. If you must sort, download it and sort your local copy.alinor wrote:I fixed the spreadsheet. I took a very pretty 3D panorama in the snow-covered courtyard at school today, which I'd share with y'all if I could figure out how to share a .pano (besides linking to SkyDrive, which has my name all over it).

It's a .pano file. One of those click and drag around the spherical panorama things. It requires Quicktime VR or something built into the hosting site.fivestarfolds wrote:Dropbox with a public link?rinkrat19 wrote:I took a very pretty 3D panorama in the snow-covered courtyard at school today, which I'd share with y'all if I could figure out how to share a .pano (besides linking to SkyDrive, which has my name all over it).
I could flatten it, but then it's just a badly-stitched photo of the courtyard.
