60k! Based on how the rest of my cycle has gone, I was expecting zero, so this is a very welcome surprise.
A little scared by that April 6th deadline though. Berkeley's ASW isn't until April 15, and I wanted to visit both before making a decision.

I also got a 75K scholly with conditional 90 K if I do PI. Ironically Columbia held me today, so it looks like a two birds with one stone thing. 95% sure I'm going to be at NYU barring a Harvard acceptance! Stats...International 179/3.86

Was thinking the same thing. I figured I was a decent candidate for the usual 25K from past years but it looks like that wasn't ever gonna happen.Yeshia90 wrote:Looks like NYU has seemingly done away with the 25-30K offers they used to make to lower end admits, and put all that into larger scholarships to reel in the big fish. People that CLS money doesn't usually come out till mid-April. For those of you accepted to both, are you going to try to talk to CLS and see if they'll decide on you earlier like they've done in the past or what?

Already sent them my negotiation letter. I'll also ask NYU if they can extend the deadline, if it comes to that.snehpets wrote:People that CLS money doesn't usually come out till mid-April. Well, you've got some leverage for negotiations. I wouldn't be surprised to see you get that in the end.Tiago Splitter wrote:Was thinking the same thing. i was rejected by yale, held by harvard and columbia, and WL'd from chicago....so it looks like the 75K is the best I'm going to get!

Zero, wow. I was expecting at least a little bit of money.
I'm fairly sure it's down to CLS and Chicago now.

A bit disappointed that people waiting to hear about the big named scholarships didn't receive any offers in this wave. Unfortunately I received an email today confirming that they are not extending an interview to me, so if even applying to RTK shuts me out of receiving merit aid, I'll be doubly sad.

Yeah, I admit I was very bummed at first. But I mean, it's just the way things have gone, nothing I can do about it now. Probably my 179 was a gift and a curse cuz it raised expectations beyond what my relatively lackluster GPA and resume should have had. I'm genuinely stoked to be at NYU in the fall barring an acceptance from the waitlist which will in all likelihood not occur, and I have made peace with that fact.

I can understand the disappointment but 75K from NYU is an awesome outcome. Congrats.madvillain wrote:Yeah, I admit I was very bummed at first. +1 really can't go wrong with 75k from a T6 school.Tiago Splitter wrote:I can understand the disappointment but 75K from NYU is an awesome outcome. Re: In at NYU: Class of 2015...New Poll!
Think of the situation you will be in though. You will be at a T6 school, and you have a full year of tuition and NY living expenses covered with that scholarship. Live a bit frugally during years 2 and 3, and you will have an entirely manageable debt load along with options at the very best firms in the country. In my experience here at NYU, getting a big NY firm SA was surprisingly easy, and that seemed to be the case across the board for the vast majority of people I know.madvillain wrote:Yeah, I admit I was very bummed at first. For sure for sure. I guess I was just responding to the people who assumed I would be auto-admit at Yale and whatnot. I am indeed very happy and very optimistic about my situation moving forward, and the money is fantastic. There's no doubt about that.

I'm a bit confused about the GPA requirement for the scholarship. My letter says "the package is contingent upon satisfactory academic progress and other terms outlined in the attached schedule" but then makes no mention of what "satisfactory academic progress" means. Am I missing something?

Re: In at NYU: Class of 2015...New Poll!
I got the 37,500/45,000 (PI) award, which really surprised me. Was expecting nothing. (Below LSAT median, at GPA 75th).
I thought these awards were basically merit-based? I imagine there must have been some element of need involved with me. (I made <12K last year. Half of my living expenses were paid by the Army GI Bill while I was enrolled in school).

Haven't filled out my financial aid stuff yet, but I guess I'm not going to expect anything for median-ish numbers here.

Okay, so has anyone who applied for a named scholarship (RTK specifically) gotten any email about aid? I haven't heard anything about the RTK nor have I heard anything about aid, and now I'm getting kinda anxious! (Not that I'm really expecting either with my numbers.)

It means don't fail out. And failing out is basically impossible.ssteiner wrote:I'm a bit confused about the GPA requirement for the scholarship.
