After 2/9 NDR, I also got a 3/2 NDR today. I hope the decision comes soon, as all my other deposits are due on April 15,16,17th. UF will be my choice 10000 percent if I got in.

In via packet!
163/UGA undergrad
Was leaning towards Georgia State, but it couldn't hurt to visit UF.

With no $$ and OOS tuition, UF just isn't worth it. Good luck everybody!

And it makes me sad, I'll likely be at GSU next fall as well.KibblesnBitts wrote:With no $$ and OOS tuition, UF just isn't worth it. Good luck everybody!

It really irks me, my state law school - Rutgers, offers easy transitioning into in-state tuition...and yet other states don't extend the same offer. C'est la vie.georgia32 wrote:And it makes me sad, I'll likely be at GSU next fall as well.KibblesnBitts wrote:With no $$ and OOS tuition, UF just isn't worth it. Good luck everybody!

What confused me was how FSU made it seem like it was easy to get in-state after the first year. They made a point to mention it, why would it be different at UF?

You could probably get in-state after a year if you knew the guidelines ahead of time and were strict about them.georgia32 wrote:What confused me was how FSU made it seem like it was easy to get in-state after the first year. They made a point to mention it, why would it be different at UF?

The "Intent to work in Florida" is a fairly subjective criterion.seancris wrote:You could probably get in-state after a year if you knew the guidelines ahead of time and were strict about them.georgia32 wrote:What confused me was how FSU made it seem like it was easy to get in-state after the first year. The guidelines looked pretty strict on UF's website, especially for younger people. It made it seem like my parents would have to become residents as well.

It's super easy in Florida to get residency (as opposed to Texas
). I believe most OOS students here get in-state tuition after their 1L year, provided they don't procrastinate.

I think that the states with the tough residency guidelines are really hurting themselves. It's hard to take advantage of brain drain from states like Florida when you basically make it financial impossible to justify the move.LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:It's super easy in Florida to get residency (as opposed to Texas).

Difference being that there is at least one school in Texas that would provide a good return on investment, even if you're paying OOS.

Yeah, but you have to live in Texas after law school.Geaux12 wrote:seancris wrote:I think that the states with the tough residency guidelines are really hurting themselves. DFW isn't bad either (as long as you stay on the FW side).LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:Yeah, but you have to live in Texas after law school.Geaux12 wrote:seancris wrote:I think that the states with the tough residency guidelines are really hurting themselves. That's good to hear, it is relevant to my interests, hopefully I'll find out more at ASD.
I've always heard good things about Austin, a bunch of my friends went to that ACL festival there.

Huh, go figure. Crap. At least their deadline (for me at least) is May 15...I guess I'll put in a deposit elsewhere and visit UF a couple weeks after ASD.seancris wrote:http://www.top-law-schools.com/law-scho ... cy.html#flgeorgia32 wrote:seancris wrote:You could probably get in-state after a year if you knew the guidelines ahead of time and were strict about them.georgia32 wrote:What confused me was how FSU made it seem like it was easy to get in-state after the first year. That's exactly my plan KnB.
edit: Except I'll likely be going to ASD. Only problem is there is a huge party the day after at my UG and there is no way I am missing it. So I will be driving all night afterwards haha.

Haha, I'm from New Jersey (Don't let the avatar fool you) but the difference in cost for flights is just too much for ASD. I'll just go there solo.georgia32 wrote:That's exactly my plan KnB.
