Is there anyone else in this thread who has an April 4th deadline to reply to NYU and hasn't heard back about a matching scholarship from a peer school? It's absolutely nerve-wracking. Just curious if I'm a lone screw-up or if this is standard practice from CC.

Classmates? :D :D
I probably will be. Although I was hoping you would get into CLS, I'm glad you are still probably going to NYU. I came to the same decision a month ago after each admitted students days. I'm meeting with a family friend who is a recruiting partner at a V50 firm here in LA and if he tells me there is not a significant difference between CLS and NYU, and barring an acceptance at Harvard I will be at NYU next year.
Yeah it's a much better fit, and it feels so good just to know now. I even got a sweatshirt, so it's official! Also, I really want to be NYU classmates with you!!! Although I would understand if you got into Harvard and went there haha.

So I should've gone to the PI panel instead of the very real and really depressing finaid panel huh. You guys have any idea what an 1200 a month apartment in NYC looks like?

They should've been passing around booze during that talk.

Its in the Village or the West Village. I sat with a recent alum at one of the dinners who said 5 or 6 times that the one piece of advice he had was don't live in the on-campus housing - for whatever that's worth.

You could commute from almost anywhere downtown though (east village, lower east side, chinatown) and even brooklyn wouldn't be hard.

Why would he be so against on-campus? That makes no sense

Yeah I'm almost definitely doing student housing. The rooms are decent, it's not horribly overpriced, and I would be terrified about finding something on my own when I know nothing about NYC.

The consensus among current student was that on-campus housing is really useful for 1L year, but most of the 2L/3Ls moved off.

Also, the finaid panels are always a bundle of fun. I did attend the PI panel when I went, and it was pretty standard fare.

I'm working with incomplete information with no aid offer from Columbia and Stanford. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE NYU. I just want complete information. Still shaking from the call.

I don't know. I really didn't like Mercer or Dag. I'm still undecided if I want to do the on-campus housing.. I mean it's convenient and easy, but there's so many nice places to live for the same price-ish.

Edit: But if I do the on-campus housing, I will def be trying for Mercer

Hahaha. yeah i was dead tired by the end of friday. but i did manage to go from tuesday night to mid saturday morning on 2 hours of sleep and many many cups of coffee... In fact, I'm still a bit drunk and still in NY now hahaha....

NYU ASW was amazing. I'm psyched about next semester. I'll write up a review or something later if anybody was interested.
