Ummm? Most sensible people are agnostic, as reason tells us that there is no reason to empower institutions that use scare tactics to pressure people into believing fairy tales.AssumptionRequired wrote:Hmmm well i hate to say it, but i am not the church going type. For at least 20% of the USA, it's like saying "Easter H. Bunny!"--nobody cares. Although, maybe we should all just assume each individual we talk to is an uptight christian.AssumptionRequired wrote:Its rude to use his name in vain.Jesus H Christ. Just because you gamed the system and got into UVA doesn't mean you have a license to be dismissive and rude. We're all aware that we don't have that great of a shot of getting in, but it's nice to see that it's not completely hopeless.
Anyways, you got into NYU, so your profile says. If you have NYU numbers, then your only real worry is YP. Would you take UVA over NYU? or are you just looking for money. I was just playing around because people rely on LSN a little to much/boredom. You may be a little uptight for UVA anyways, have fun at NYU

I have firm confidence that UVA will get back to us before...May.

Thanks for that! Glad to have some more insight on the issue!bdubs wrote:10/26 here-- The people who had their status checkers change in November/December seemed to have either nothing happen or get a WL, Ding via e-mail. This may be different since we just got into January and they traditionally start releasing OOS decisions soon.TLSNYC wrote:So, it's fairly normal to have a status date that's stuck in October, right? How about we all agree that no belief set has any monopoly on "sensible people." I personally am Christian, but I don't let any institution pressure me into believing anything. I have agnostic, atheist, jewish, muslim, and buddhist friends who are similarly freethinking.esq wrote:Ummm? So, lets keep the philosophical/theological debates out of this thread. The lounge seems to be a good place to get into a pointless argument that neither side will win.

Agreed. I try to be nice on TLS, but if I have to read one more comment in your little argument I'm going to vomit all over my keyboard. GTFO.thelaststraw05 wrote:esq wrote:

Most TLSers generally try to be nice, including me. But it seems a little counterproductive to proclaim your own efforts at amiability, then to complain and to tell others, "Get the fuck out." Don't really get why you'd think self-pity and profane imperatives would help any situation.jpk5372 wrote:Agreed. I don't care what you think about my apparent self-pity but this forum is for acceptances not religious discussion. So please people lets get back on track shall we? It seems a little counterproductive to keep this going.DreamShake wrote:Still at 11/10.ecarter22 wrote:Status checker changed today from 12/13 to 1/3. Anybody else with the same movement?

So as an OOS who's been sitting, waiting, wishing since 10/6 and would really like some movement, please UVA, show some love so I can finally stop checking this thread.

Can't we all just get along? Please? This is messing with my ability to obsess over status checker updates. I get all excited about a new post--OMG MAYBE THEY'RE ADMITTING OOS RD'ERS!!!!!!!!!!--and then it's the continuation of a non-related argument. Sigh.
Still sitting complete at 12/6, FWIW.

Wow, is UVA gunning for a 171 median this year? I thought above median on either metric for in state was a pretty sure thing.thelaststraw05 wrote:Just got the waitlist email.thelaststraw05 wrote:12/6 here.DreamShake wrote:Still at 11/10.ecarter22 wrote:Status checker changed today from 12/13 to 1/3.
