The Cane ID? I still see a decision letter for me that says hold. This really sucks. I have been waiting since November. I am getting tired of it.

Re: U. Miami Applicants c/o 2014
Going through last years thread, there doesn't seem to be a single scholarship given out after the first batches. Kind of a joke as I have $20,000 from FSU along with instate tuition. I would consider Miami because my girl lives her and all my connections are down here, but not for $100,000 difference in debt for a lower ranked school.

i find it really hard to believe that miami is out of money. How do they expect the 3.5 165+ students to matriculate if they applied a bit late?

Yeah, seems weird. I guess they don't value people who took the December LSAT. I should probably withdraw then.gothamm wrote:i find it really hard to believe that miami is out of money. How do they expect the 3.5 165+ students to matriculate if they applied a bit late?

Re: U. Miami Applicants c/o 2014
in the fin. aid chat the other day they said that they are no longer giving out any scholarshipsdrummerboy wrote:maybe well get lucky with more scholly money opening up later after withdrawals. id given up on 3 or 4 schools and then i even got full rides to some weeks later. im just going to wait it out. but no way i go at ticket
and then someone asked something along the lines of seeing if any money would free up after people withdrew but one of the fin. aid people said basically that they over-allocated funds, anticipating some people to withdraw..so basically if we haven't heard now there's a good chance we won't get any $, unless probably you're numbers are well above their 75ths.

That's a fucking joke. Somebody with an application well beyond their standards isn't entitled to scholarship money because they took the LSAT in February? Furthermore, they are just assuming that there will be no worthy late applicants and splash money on what seems to be a first come, first serve basis? Fuck it, I'm in better schools and saving $100,000 while I'm at it.

Ummm, doesn't everybody applying to law school know about rolling admissions? If you want the money, then you should try to earlier. I don't see what the hostility is about, we know the deal from the start.

I'm debating if it is even worth it to hold on to my acceptance and hope for money.
Well... just withdrew. That settles that debate. Good luck to the rest of you. Sorry to report that I'm not freeing up any scholarship money.

+1. Get over it. If your numbers are great and you want to stay in Florida, go to UF or FSU. The cheaper tuition is a scholarship in itself...or atleast that's what I've been telling myself.southernsnapp wrote:Ummm, doesn't everybody applying to law school know about rolling admissions? Edit: For clarification.

In at Miami from "held" status. I didn't even send a LOCI, just played it cool.
Truth be told, this is my worst fear. I really should just go to Rutgers, but the weather, the weather is so tempting...

Yep, early in the morning. As per their usual way of doing updates. I would love to live and work in Miami, but I'm just worried about the S. Florida legal market. Looks like I'll have to do some research, and see which of my choices would afford the best prospects.flgator10 wrote:Congrats! Oh, and did you notice that your hold letter disappeared before you got in like many of the others said? Or did you just get the email telling you to check your myum account?

I hadn't been checking. I figured that "held" status was the kiss of death. Guess I was wrong. This morning was an email telling me to check the myum and ensuing congratulations screen.flgator10 wrote:We're everywhere!!![]()

I hadn't been checking mine either until I saw on here that people were starting to get accepted and waitlisted and now I can't stop checking.Justathought wrote:I hadn't been checking. Re: U. Miami Applicants c/o 2014
I would keep checking MyUM and using the link that was provided a couple pages ago. I never got an e-mail to check my status again from Miami. As soon as i realized that my hold letter was gone, I used the link and an acceptance letter appeared but nothing changed when I only logged into my MyUM, just the link to view admission documents needed. About a week after the first group of hold letters disappeared, people started either getting waitlists or acceptances. HTH
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
