Wait, and for everyone freaking out about date order, we've known that for months. Chicago has a very steady admit pattern based on submit date. It's all in Dulcatis's spreadsheet...

Sp maybe in another half hour we get a tweet that they will begin Sept/Oct admit calls? Or maybe tomorrow? Or maybe speculatory post is speculatory.

Re: UChicago 2011
But when they say they will "post an update soon," they can't possibly mean they will just say (for the fifteenth time) "we are reading files." Something has to change, and they have to start releasing decisions. It just depends what Chicago considers to be "soon."

RD update 1: Comm. working hard to finalize a big group of decisions, including Sept., Oct., and Nov. completed files, hopefully this week.
Does this mean...no calls today??

But then they did say they'll post updates soon for Sept/Oct people. Hopefully that means decisions, and hopefully soon means this afternoon.arism87 wrote:I think this looks bad for todayabsolutazn87 wrote:omg...twitter update!!

Re: UChicago 2011
yea.. so they def have decisions made for the people with the stuck dates.. Im still 12/13. I dont understand how law school admissions work man. Its 11 o'clock. They should def know by now whether they are ready to release decisions today or tomorrow. This is kind of ridiculous.

also, i think it's kind of funny that we read so much into any admissions office communications (says the guilty party-but what other options does a neurotic have?), since i don't think that the person in charge of their twitter account is necessarily intending to pack deep layers of meaning into their tweet. i am pretty sure they are trying to come up with endless variations on "hold on, you high-strung 0Ls, we have a lot of applications to go through."

It means that some who were less patient than us have called or e-mailed to ask "WTF! when are you releasing decisions????" I think they wanted those calls to stop.jd2014! wrote:also, i think it's kind of funny that we read so much into any admissions office communications (says the guilty party-but what other options does a neurotic have?), since i don't think that the person in charge of their twitter account is necessarily intending to pack deep layers of meaning into their tweet. i am pretty sure they are trying to come up with endless variations on "hold on, you high-strung 0Ls, we have a lot of applications to go through."

I don't at all feel sorry for these people.
They've been "reviewing" my application for 98 days. I say let people harass them with phone calls.

Re: UChicago 2011
Yeah but when you say things like "possibly" get decisions out "this week" (not even just friday, this week is phrased in a way that could possibly include thursday) at 11 o'clock on Thursday it gets kind of ridiculous. How could they "possibly" be released today but not definitely be released tomorrow at that latest? What do they expect when they make statements like that? How do they expect people not to call?bdubs wrote:It means that some who were less patient than us have called or e-mailed to ask "WTF! when are you releasing decisions????" Yeah...the "hopefully" doesn't bode well for today, or tomorrow. I'm thinking it might get pushed back to next weekarism87 wrote:I think this looks bad for todayabsolutazn87 wrote:omg...twitter update!!

Re: UChicago 2011
More speculation, but I have a hunch they are waiting to see December LSAT scores released to get a feel of how large the applicant pool will actually be. When those scores are released they will be able to figure out how many people took the December test and how many more applications they might be receiving. This may very well be how they decide people they have on the fence (me probably being one of those). They are likely hesitant to send out "holds" to those people on the fence for fear that the best of the worst pile of applicants will drop off. At the same time, the delay in December LSAT scores bodes well for us all because that means that many of those applicants will wait until next application cycle rather than throwing their application into the shuffle so late. Then again, the fact that it has gone 26 or 27 days without LSAT scores might mean that there was another unexpected surge in LSAT test takers and applicants. That would be bad. So, we will all see. I would expect LSAT scores to pop out tonight and decisions for many of us to come tomorrow. Thoughts?

Unfortunately I think that LSAT scores are holding up a lot of decisions this week. The admit forum has been pretty quiet relative to what the numbers from last year would suggest.SirWilliam1022 wrote:More speculation, but I have a hunch they are waiting to see December LSAT scores released to get a feel of how large the applicant pool will actually be. Yea, that is what I was thinking as well looking at numbers. On the upside, that means all of the decisions from schools will happen in the same week!!!! Yay!!! =D (Hoping)

Let's use our collective power to tease the December LSAT takers for not having received their scores yet. Sure, it might not resolve the problem of waiting, but it sure will make you feel better about yourself
