Yeah, it's definitely a divisive issue, even among people that share otherwise similar ideologies. I'm a big supporter of changing food policy in this country, namely subsidizing vegetables and fruits and removing the subsidies to corn that causes cheap, shitty food to stay cheap. But many people would disagree on the ground that the free market should dictate food prices rather than the government stepping in and deciding which food is "better"Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:I definitely think the state has a solid interest in influencing the behavior of its citizenry, but I stop short of supporting laws that do it. Even though I believe this is a generally unpopular opinion, I think government can smartly influence behavior as to decentivize certain negative behaviors in order to benefit the populace. I do think all drugs should be decriminalized, but I don't see how legalizing something like heroin is a good idea.

There's definitely better 8 point quizzes, but ultimately I think anyone can guess the answer to any of the questions so it's not hard to answer how you know yourself to beamta wrote:some of the questions were very poorly phrased.

Hold the fuck up, you want to ruin Kelly Frost's valiant corn efforts by doing away with subsidies???RParadela wrote:Yeah, it's definitely a divisive issue, even among people that share otherwise similar ideologies. That's a fair point. I think I implicitly read it as "[The current rate of] military spending [in the U.S. / by world powers] is a waste of money," which might explain both my peacenik score and my dismal performance on reading compLSRAT wrote:amta wrote:some of the questions were very poorly phrased.
I agree. For instance, "military spending is a waste of money." I think, barring some radical political viewpoints, most people would agree that at least some military spending is useful. The disagreement is usually over how much is excessive/necessary.
Now there's a charge.
