I'm not so far ahead where I would get YP or anything, but at the same time don't want to risk losing scholarship money by coming off as too eager to attend (even tho its my top choice obviously I'm super eager to attend). Or is that just really dumb reasoning? If I don't write a Why X addendum I'll probably put a bit of it in my PS at the end.
I definitely wrote Why X essays for any school I wanted to attend, regardless of where I fell in regards to their numbers. I don't think you'll lose scholarship money if you look over eager - you're just backing up that you're likely to matriculate if they give you an offer, not blanketing for leverage.
Didn't really think about being more likely to matriculate as a plus in terms of money, but I think that's a great point. I'll probably write some Why X essays then. How long were yours?

It takes a lot to make Hilde on your political right. I don't know if I can take you serious.
Hilde's ideal society is to my left. But the actions she calls for will create a society far to my right. It's a shame; she's an intellectual person but is arguing in support of ideologies without examining the theoretical foundation upon which they're built.

Our goal should be to create a post-gendered society, where ideas such as "straight" and "gay" and "queer" become relics of the gendered past. Male privilege is a serious issue. But the ultimate goal can't be to strike upon a balance between the sexes. It must be to deny "sex" of any categorical power.

The idea of separate "sexes" is a cancer that metastasized in our society, ultimately crippling it in the form of a Male-Dominated hierarchy that "feminists" call male privilege. But removing individual tumors of Male Privilege won't cure us of this cancer. We need chemotherapy at the source, i.e. attack the construct of gender itself.

This is why the transgendered movement currently represents our best hope of ultimately creating a post-gendered society.

'ideas such as "gay"'

"feminists"

Do you actually believe any of this? Or are you trolling?

How can you argue that gender is a social construct without accepting then that our sexual "gender preferences" are based on that social construct?
