As a 167 who had withdrawn, who should I email to find out if I can get this offer? General admissions email? Or a person.

I would just send it to the general admissions account and the secretaries will forward it to whoever is in the office.

I emailed MAC because I remembered when I was negotiating with USC, emailing the specific dean really helped expedite my scholarship increase. Probably took less than 24 hours to get my increase.

how many apps did they get?? I mean last year they had 4000 but their ranking fell to 23rd(before making a comeback this year) so it must have declined sharply. too many people still pay attention to US news.

The ranking declined last year because WUSTL switched to the new job placement reporting a year earlier than everyone else, not because they had a greater drop in applicants than everyone else (also the 2012 rankings are not tied to the stats for last year's cycle. that class had not even deposited when the rankings came out). Almost every school has seen a significant drop in applications in the last few years. There will be plenty of medians that drop.

He wasn't saying that the ranking fell because of the drop in applicants. The argument is that there may have been a drop in applicants due to the drop in ranking.

it's whatever, we're all special snowflakes anyway. Even HYS kids can't say they're completely secure, and any security they do have only applies to that first job. No one knows what'll happen long-term. Just gotta minimize debt, study hard, and neTTTwork your ass off amirite?

Nothing in life is secured. You could graduate from Harvard without a job. They are talking about a realistic chance to pursue the career you want where you want to. Whether it be big law, finance, public interest, in-house opportunities, government jobs etc. So the lawyers I spoke with said you have to strike the balance between not being in debt (if possible or minimal debt) and giving yourself the best chance to succeed professionally.

I wasn't trying to be snarky, it was a legit question that wasn't very well fleshed out.

jd said employment opportunity was secured, which I took to mean "Go to WUSTL, become a lawyer." We know from the most recent class that's not true, about 1/3 of the class isn't becoming a lawyer. So I wondered what these attorneys meant? If they are boomers who think go to any law school=get job as lawyer then whatever.

But, and this is what I was hoping, might these be lawyers who have a realistic handle on the job situation for new grads? Might they even have some insight on what it could be like for our class? Do they think that employment for kids at a school of WUSTLs status in the law school pecking order will get significantly better, to the point where becoming a lawyer is closer to a sure thing than a 66% chance? Further, WUSTL has shrunk their class size considerablely recently, do these people think that might bode really well for the class of 2016? Basically I was just wondering what they were saying to jd and if it was particularly insightful for the latest batch of WUSTLers. As someone who will also be attending a T20 with a shrunken class size these issues are important to me and I was hoping maybe somebody actually in the industry knew something/had a theory about our job situation getting better.

But yeah, sorry, should have fleshed my question out more instead of posting one sentence during the middle of the 7th inning stretch. I have been pissing off a WUSTLer every time I post in this thread so all I can say is sorry and I'll stop posting here. Good luck guys, really glad they came through for you all in a really big way.
