Also, if they do discriminate based on your sexuality, why would you want to go there? (I am not assuming that they do, just basing my query on your concerns)
If GULC uses interviewers who are biased and hateful, you're better off not going there (we all are actually)

Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
Do you have very unique soft factors? If not, it may be that they are just interviewing borderline numbers. A 3.9 is above their 75th percentile, but a 168 (albeit an excellent score) is right at their 25th percentile for last year. Schools are always trying to improve their medians. Also, I remember hearing something about USNWR incorporating part time numbers in to full time rankings (or something along those lines), and as such, they may be trying very hard to raise their median LSAT as to ensure their rankings.tintin wrote:They want to interview me too.
WTF? I have a 168/3.9. Is it because I'm gay??? What on earth about my application could make them hesitate? I don't have any disciplinary records....great evaluations.... I'm at a loss.
Don't worry, your numbers are great and the interview is probably a formality for borderline numbers. I'm sure sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. Good luck with the interview, I'm sure you'll get in!

I'm URM. Lots of people were interviewed then immediately accepted last cycle. Legit w/in a few days of their interview (depending how prompt the interviewer was returning the response form).
URM check though, seriously? What are they going to have a race box the interviewer has to check.

sorry if this is redundant... do they only interview certain people? and make decisions without an interview for others?

Interview is by invitation only.Typically reserved for splitters and borderline candidates.goblue2010 wrote:sorry if this is redundant... do they only interview certain people? and make decisions without an interview for others?

False, we don't really know the reason for the interview.hopefulundergrad wrote:Interview is by invitation only.Typically reserved for splitters and borderline candidates.goblue2010 wrote:sorry if this is redundant... do they only interview certain people? and make decisions without an interview for others?
Everyone just needs to just relax.
EDIT: If anything, those of you with invitations should be excited about the opportunity to sell yourself beyond a few pieces of paper. Being mad that they had the audacity to ask you to interview instead of just admitting you makes you sound entitled and snobby, two qualities they probably aren't seeking in their incoming class.

You're suggesting that they go through the trouble of interviewing candidates who are not borderline, but in fact auto-admit/rejects?oneforship wrote:False, we don't really know the reason for the interview.hopefulundergrad wrote:Interview is by invitation only.Typically reserved for splitters and borderline candidates.goblue2010 wrote:sorry if this is redundant... do they only interview certain people? and make decisions without an interview for others?

I understand the high school guidance counselor angle you're going for, but come on.

You're implying that there are only 3 types of potential applicants? Auto admit/auto reject/borderline?Split5 wrote: You're suggesting that they go through the trouble of interviewing candidates who are not borderline, but in fact auto-admit/rejects?

Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
Georgetown 3L here. Hoping to help dispel some mystery. I sat next to an attorney who did the interviews at a scholarship lunch once. She said that mainly they interview people who are borderline, or people who look really interesting but have something like low grades/ LSAT some other issue that they want to learn more about. I.e. people they are very interested in accepting, but who have some reason to make them hesitate.
To the previous poster there is absolutely zero chance you are being interviewed because you are gay. If know anything about the history of Georgetown law and the gay community you know that there is just no way this would happen.

Lol. A few people have suggested to me that Duke asking me to come interview is in part an URM check.hopefulundergrad wrote:I'm URM. Yes, actually. They can be split into further categories if you'd like, but A) Those are the most basic while still being descriptive, and B) hopefulundergrad, the one you were contradicting, left it at this level.oneforship wrote:You're implying that there are only 3 types of potential applicants? So they rendered a decision on 11/16, but since I live in California it will take a long time for the letter to get here. An ugly week of suspense looms...

Well in that case, by all means, freak out and bitch and complain that they want to interview a potential student before admitting them.Split5 wrote:*gasp!*hedgehog28 wrote:Georgetown 3L here. If you don't like it, get better numbers. Otherwise, take advantage of the fact that you weren't immediately tossed in the reject pile and do something to help your chances.
