Withdrew my app so hopefully that spot and some of that scholly money is going back to you all! Good luck to everyone waiting to hear!

They replied to my email wanting to know where I was going and how much money I got there which was a little awkward. I told them I hadn't decided yet, just that I had narrowed down my options (which is true).

That is super awkward. If/when that happens to me (from any school) I think I will reply that I don't feel comfortable providing that information.

It's honestly just for research purposes to know who their peers/competition is.
Just like how apps ask you where else you're applying.

Withdrew my app due to a (even post-negotiation) low scholarship offer. That said, the Dean was super prompt, courteous, and professional, so I have no hard feelings!

I feel like it has to do with the issues last year that the UCs were accepting more out of state students for UG than in-state and this year they have been asked to increase the percentage of in-state kids which I would assume result in them receiving less funds from tuition. Not sure if it affects the law schools?

Not for undergrad? sorry I abbreviated it UG.Ucla is like 14k for in state and then 40k for out of state. Pretty sure that's the same for Berkeley too.

Yeah they're cutting back (at least in theory) the proportion of out-of-state undergraduate students. There's a proposed cap of 20% that's being talked right now but I'm not sure if it'll ultimately pass (the UC system likes their oos $$$).

ah sorry missed that part. My understanding is that professional schools usually are net cash positive (read cash cows) for universities though. (same with humanities masters too)

Is 110k the maximum scholarship offer that UCLA Law can give?
It seems like that's the highest offer based on LSN so far.

HEY friends, trying not to stress here but am still waiting for any word from UCLA.
I'm >75th percentile for both GPA and LSAT, went complete on Jan 18th, sent an unsolicited LOCI mid-February (because I was an idiot who didn't write a Programmatic contribution lol) and CA resident. I have to make decisions about some full-tuition and t-5 offers in early April and it's killing me to not know if UCLA is on the table or not.
Any ideas at all about how I can hear back sooner rather than later???? Or is anyone in the same boat as me?

Pretty much the same boat although I did write a programmatic contribution. I really want to hear back as well; I really like UCLA!!!

Honestly, politely tell them exactly this! They have to understand that you care enough about UCLA to consider them if you had the opportunity to, but that you have deadlines approaching soon, etc. Good luck!

I say go for it. It won't be any trouble for them to add it to your file, and it could end up pushing you over the edge if you're a borderline candidate. There's no harm in trying.

Yeah -- I think UCLA is in better financial shape than Berkeley, though still obviously a public university and thus affected by state budget issues. But as for Berkeley: maybe this partly explains it? (Kind of weird to spend several hundred K on a PR firm when you are running a big deficit. . . !)

Oh I misread brini's post. I guess if your offer was zero (as in you missed whatever financial aid wave you should have been in) then go for it.
