Re: Cornell c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
It could be a matter of Cornell trying to zig when others zag. Traditional splitters seem to be having some decent success at a few of Cornell's contemporaries this cycle (and last fwiw) so they could be attempting to identify some students who may not be as flush with offers and get them in the door early. Theoretically it makes some sense and would also allow them to trumpet yield #s and have a marketing story different from other schools in the T14. I'm not saying I agree with it. I can just see a possible angle.

I agree. Upside is people who submitted RD last year are getting their answers. Hopefully Cornell doesn't string me along.PrezRand wrote:This thread just became incredibly depressing

Sorry if this is way late and you've already done it but it was a few political questioned that were really fun. And then your basic interview questions gauging interest in the school. Overall it was pretty fun I just think the format is a little difficult to work with and made me more nervous than I would've been otherwise.Kaylasvi wrote:Do you happen to remember the questions you were asked? And I'm sure a tiny bit of a train wreck on my end.

Hopped on the WL train yesterday with a 167/3.5; looking at the thread honestly surprised it wasn't a straight ding so I guess I'll take it? Good luck to everyone in the same boat on the rest of your cycle - I know I probably wasn't gonna end up in Ithaca even if I got in as it would be crazy expensive, but would have been intriguing to see.

11/01; 'Ready to review' Dec. 2nd I think, no movement/interview until yesterday.angelfan5589 wrote:When did you submit? Re: Cornell c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Does Cornell change status date after receiving December LSAT score?
I was UR as of 12/22/2016, and after updating them with my new LSAT on 1/4/2016, the date is changed to 1/4.
I am wondering if this is UR2 or just lsat update date.
I submitted mid-December.

Anyone who submitted early-mid October NOT receive a response yet? Wondering if this lack of movement is cause for concern

Submitted late October and I went under review for the third time now, on 1/9/17.
Still haven't been asked to interview so I don't know what to expect.
Non-valid GPA and LSAT at median. :/

This is crazy. No one with <3.7 GPA is admitted. Such a clear-cut of GPA line there. Tough school for splitters; but great news for reserve-splitters I guess?
Didn't someone say Cornell had a new (admissions) dean? So everything about this cycle with Cornell is unpredictable? Any ideas?

I really really really do not like this feeling of being stuck at application ready for review 10/17/16.
And yeah they do have a new dean... Monica Ingram I believe? But she was there for last year's cycle already so not sure what's up with this year's

As I mentioned before in this thread, I was accepted yesterday with a 3.6x GPA and a 168 LSAT. I doubt they could maintain a 3.7 hard floor even if that's what was happening. I'm sure as this cycle progresses we will see more people with sub 3.7 GPAs getting in, like every other year. No idea what happened yesterday, though. I haven't reported anything on myLSN as I'm waiting to do everything lump sum once my full cycle is clear.pipipipi wrote:http://cornell.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1617

Thanks for the information. I am sorry if I implied that no one with <3.7 WILL be admitted.muggleclutch wrote:As I mentioned before in this thread, I was accepted yesterday with a mid 3.6 GPA and a 168 LSAT. Admittedly, 3.7 and even 3.6 is a very high GPA, not a splitter GPA at all. What I am trying to say is that Cornell does seem to have a clearer GPA bottom line than other schools, say Penn.

Hey, no worries! I think I was more responding to people earlier who were talking about a 3.7 GPA floor. Sorry to lump you in with all that! And yeah, you're definitely right regarding their GPA bottom line being higher.pipipipi wrote:Thanks for the information. They call it 'reserve', but you have to send a LOCI within two weeks to stay on the list. - Just submitted mine

Just wanted to point out that it's also still very early on in the cycle and that, while there seems to be a GPA bottom line NOW, it won't be a little later when they start pulling people off the WL!muggleclutch wrote:Hey, no worries!
