Re: UCLA Law c/o 2019 (2015-2016)
Anyone tried to schedule a class sit-in and tour? I emailed the admissions to schedule and ended up sending multiple emails over the weekend due to change in plans, etc... And then I never got confirmation in time to actually go to the one I requested.......... I feel like I gave them a bad impression by sending them multiple emails

Waitlisted just now
UCLA is my top choice and went complete 1/23. Guess I gotta wait it out and pay my deposits to BU in the meantime
Does being added to the waitlist this late mean my chances are that much lower?

Waitlisted as well, went complete around the same time. Staying on the waitlist for now, I guess we will see how the rest of the cycle plays out. Not sure if this is better or worse than an outright rejection.sak019 wrote:Waitlisted just nowUCLA is my top choice and went complete 1/23. Re: UCLA Law c/o 2019 (2015-2016)
Waitlisted today via email shockingly. I applied to UCLA as my ultimate reach and was expecting a quick rejection. 2.95 GPA (huge upward trend), 161 LSAT. I already emailed Admissions to schedule a campus visit (I'm in SoCal, so I can take a day trip) and am currently considering retaking the LSAT in June to boost my chances...
Currently my top choice is Loyola LA, and I'm in the middle of negotiations with Hastings.

Ooh, are you negotiating for higher scholarship at Hastings w/ your Loyola money? B/c I was thinking of doing the same.queenb921 wrote:Waitlisted today via email shockingly. Care to let me know how it goes? Also, what field of law do you hope to practice in?

Does anyone know if the school has given more money in merit based scholarships after 1L year, if you do really well?

Re: UCLA Law c/o 2019 (2015-2016)
Yes, I am using my Loyola Scholarship to negotiate with Hastings. Loyola offered me about 70% tuition. I was a little hesitant because I didn't know if Hastings and Loyola were considered peer schools, but I have been talking to a friend currently going to Hastings and he encouraged me to use it in negotiations. He also told me Hastings expects negotiations and they are generally open to them. He got his scholarship increased by 15K/year so it is definitely worth a shot.sak019 wrote:Ooh, are you negotiating for higher scholarship at Hastings w/ your Loyola money? Primarily interested in Public Interest Law. I have experience in Immigration and centered my application around that, but I don't think I want to go in to Immigration Law. I'm leaning more towards public defender work now, or something similar.

The Admissions Committee has reviewed your application for fall 2016. While you are not admitted at this time, the Admissions Committee is sufficiently impressed by your qualifications to place you on our wait list.calgoldenbear wrote:What does the WL email say?ohthatjenn wrote:WL via email yesterday.. Applicants have not been placed in specific order on the wait list. Your chance of being admitted is difficult to predict at this time, as it will depend on the number of admitted students who accept our offer of admission. We will contact you immediately when we are able to make a definite decision in your case. Some applicants will remain on the wait list until the first day of classes in mid-August.
Please complete and submit the Waitlist Intention Form to let us know if you would like to remain on our wait list. We advise that you read the Waitlist FAQs on the form prior to submission. We must receive this form within two weeks from the date of this letter. Please notify us in writing of any future changes in your contact information so that we may notify you of any change in your status. We may be reached at admissions@law.ucla.edu.
We appreciate your patience with this process and thank you for your interest in UCLA School of Law.

Sent my applications out 1/26, went complete at UCLA on 1/29, and I got my decision on 3/29. I guess my softs really did carry me this cycle because I am doing much better than I expected - URM female, first generation college student, AmeriCorps, interesting undergrad major.calgoldenbear wrote:Did you have strong softs? You'd be surprised how far Urm alone will take you. 167+ lsat makes a urm almost anywhere with moneyqueenb921 wrote:Sent my applications out 1/26, went complete at UCLA on 1/29, and I got my decision on 3/29. Did anyone have a huge gap between submission and going complete? I submitted around the 10th of January and didn't go complete until a few days into March. UCLA is by far my top choice and I'm worried it'll affect my chances because they'll be reading my application so late!

I'm in the EXACT same situation. I actually called and asked them and they claimed it doesn't matter but at this point I feel like it does. :/mrsomebody wrote:Did anyone have a huge gap between submission and going complete? Did you take the Feb LSAT? I'm wondering if they held out for additional scores before marking applications complete. I didn't know that they waited for all the scores to come in like USC/Duke if that is the case.kala94 wrote:I'm in the EXACT same situation. No I had a different situation but I'm sure that's what happened. It's not marked Complete until literally every piece of information is received and they don't review it until it is complete.mrsomebody wrote:Did you take the Feb LSAT? Oh man. I would've definitely just asked them to read my app with my December score had I known that. I didn't even realize I wasn't 'complete' until I got the email telling me so nearly two months after I submitted!kala94 wrote:No I had a different situation but I'm sure that's what happened.
